Need For Speed Carbon Movie Clip (Wii)

<img src="http://www.operationsports.com/images/racing/nfscarbonwii/nfscarbonwiimp.jpg" vspace="15" hspace="15" ALIGN="right">We have just posted another movie clip from Need For Speed Carbon.
"The battle for the city is won in the canyon as Need for Speed™ Carbon immerses you in the world's most dangerous and adrenaline-filled form of street racing.

For the first time in a Need for Speed game, build a crew and race in an all-out war for your city against rival crews and opposing car classes. You'll risk everything to take over rival neighborhoods one street at a time.

Each crew member has unique skills that you trigger during races to give you the winning edge over opponents. Call on a Blocker to create a distraction and slow down other racers or a Scout to lead you to shortcuts on the track.

As the police turn up the heat and force the races to the outskirts of the city, the battle ultimately shifts to Carbon Canyon, where territories and reputations can be lost on every perilous curve.

Use your creativity to design your crew's cars with the revolutionary new Autoscuplt™ car customization tool that gives you the power to turn every vehicle into the car you've always wanted."

I played it on Wii first, actually. Then I played it on PC and 360 afterward. The control scheme is much better than I expected, and holding a remote flat out in the air isn't as awkward as I thought it would be, but I had some pretty serious framerate hiccups from time to time coming around a corner which made it VERY hard to adjust my line in some of the faster cars. I switched to PC and had crash-to-desktop errors once in a while, so I settled on the 360 version...lol

It's not a horrible game on Wii, though. Handles very well with the default, although some of the other control schemes are bizarre...hold the remote at a 45 degree angle and then push it flat for gas, or straight up for brake? Twist the nunchuck to steer? It's like they all sat around doing lines going "what strange control scheme can we throw in there now??".

thanks for the impressions. I enjoy the flat remote steering in Tony Hawk so I was thinking I would like it in a car as well. That's kinda cool that they have alternate control schemes, the vids I've seen only used the flat style, and especially no nunchuck. Maybe I can find this to rent before laying down a lot of cash on it.

Do you guys think this is the best car racing game on the Wii right now or would the Excitetruck or GT series game be better?

See, I rented Excite Truck and found it to have the staying power of a porn flick. Good for about 15 minutes and not much else.

The handling is fine for an over-the-top arcade game, but racing from one power up to the next, changing landscapes and flinging trucks off of the track, trying to get "stars" instead of just going for the win?

Soooooo not my cup of tea

I thought about Excitetruck, but it seems to be really similar to Tony Hawk, which you know I love, with all the fast action and crazy jumping, so I didn't want another game like that. I do like the different terrain in the races though. But I'm looking for more of a street racing game where tricks and stuff aren't really involved. I love doing the tricks in stuff in Tony Hawk because that's skateboarding, I just don't know how much I'd enjoy a spinning truck. Carbon seems to be more street racing and driving strategy like drifting rather than tricks to earn you boosts or whatever, I could be wrong though since I haven't played it.

I got this game off of ebay yesterday and spent last night checking it out. It's a lot of fun. I'm not very far in but I like the racing. I picked up a Wii steering wheel and it makes it pretty fun. I still haven't figured out much about the career mode, like where to get new cars and stuff like that, or even really what all I'm suppose to do, but I like driving around ditching the cops.
