    TDU question

I just got the game, and it looks like it's in widescreen. Is there anyway I can turn that off? I can barely read the words and it's giving me a headache.

I think the only way to turn off widescreen is to go into the 360 Blade for display settings and turn that off.

Do you have a widescreen TV? How big is the TV you are playing on?

      Re: TDU question

I don't have my 360 set to widescreen -- I don't own a widescreen TV. I guess maybe it's supposed to be this small, haha. BTW, my TV is 20", I think. I don't usually have a problem reading text, though.

Yep, this game(and most other 360 games) uses letterbox form of putting black bars on top and bottom of the screen if you're not using Widescreen TV.

I first tried on my tiny little 14" sdtv and it was impossible to read the text. I recently switched to my 17" CRT computer monitor using VGA HD/AV Cable and turned up the resolution to 1280x1024.

It still has the black bars on top and bottom of the screen(my monitor is not wide), but the resolution is high enough(it's gorgeous!) that those tiny texts are crystal sharp to read.

If you have inferior TV, I highly suggest trying your computer monitor+VGA Cable to play the games in second best looking mode available(1st is Component). It's a knockout compared to what you've been used to.

How much do those cables cost? And how would I turn the resolution up when it's connected. Is there a setting for that on the system blade?

Also, if I hook it up via VGA, how do I get sound?

One more question, haha. I can just hook these up to my computer monitor, does the monitor have to be HD or something specific?

            $39.99, here:

After you connect using vga cable, the new change res. option shows up on the blade.

The VGA cable comes with sound connector, either by RCA or 1/8" stereo y-adaptor. I hook it up to my seperate computer speaker. With my subwoofer, this thing seriously rocks.

Any computer monitors will do, whether it be CRT or LCD. Computer monitors are inherently HD, so it doesn't need to be specified to work at its optimum. Some even say vga-cable connection yields even better visuals than component. I believe it.

I just looked at my speakers, the subwoofer doesn't look like it has RCA imputs (those are the "big" plugs like what you would use to plug into a TV, right?), but it has a port where a headphone sized plug goes in. Is that what a 1/8" stereo y-adapter is? And this comes with the cables? I don't want to go out and buy these and not be able to have sound! LOL

Yes, the 1/8" stereo Y-cable comes with the VGA cable. I was actually surprised it was included, I almost thought about buying seperate adaptor as it says nothing about it on the back of the cable package. Good thing I didn't.

Funny story about that. I went and picked these up last night, and forgot that you had mentioned they had the Y-adapter. So while at Circuit City I looked for a separate adapter. They didn't have them, but they tried to sell me some other way to hook these up which would've cost me $30! LOL, no thanks. So I went off to RadioShack and Best Buy, no luck. You wouldn't know how ticked I was when I got home and opened them up.

So luckily, I hooked them up. Then I realized that the volume control for my speakers couldn't be hooked up at the same time as the the Xbox audio! So I ended up having to bring my stereo in and so I have the audio going through that at the moment, until I buy some new speakers. Works for me, because the video looks gorgeous!
