It's disappointing but in a small comparision to Forza, the amount of cars and tracks should keep the offline game fresh. Wereas in Forza, I'm bored with it aside from racing online.

i downloaded the DiRT demo last night.....the graphics are just sweet. i was a little disappointed with the very loose handling of the cars, but i am thinking that just might be a minor "demo mode" hiccup. i know that rally games have a much looser handling factor with the cars, but this was a little too loose. anyway, despite that, i could not be more psyched for this game....it looks insane!!! anyone know how the online will be? and any word on the car customization options? i know it wont be close to Forza paints, but will there be an option?

Don't forget the demo forces you to play on amateur as the highest difficulty, so it's likely that is part of the reason for the loose control, too. I'm guessing/hoping it plays a little more realistically on the higher levels.

I think the demo is what you are going to get in the full game. Losing control is not the game's fault however.

I honestly don't understand the "loose control" statements, if anything the cars feel like they have way too much traction. Head towards a 90 degree curve at 85mph and slam on the brakes...you stop WAY too fast. It's also hard to properly "rally drift" around corners as the cars seem to pivot on a center axis versus the physics being based on the entire car. This model has plagued CMR rally games for quite some time.

From what I have read the demo has all the assists turned on, so TCS, STM and ABS are all active (obviously cannot be turned off) in the demo. The higher difficulties should allow you to disable the assists to get some proper rally driving mechanics.

Why have two different guys review the game. I hope the differece in scores is because they had two different people review the game (you would think IGN would have had the two confer). Otherwise it feels that they gave this a lower rating to the US audience because of another big game out there. Where as that big game might not be as big in the UK where rallying is more popular.

Regardless of the score of the game, the inconsistency of the reviews is mind-boggling.

I was wondering the exact same thing. I'm getting it anyway because Forza 2 bored me.

Quibbling over a difference of .6? Really? Since when do reviewers need to tow a line? I'd much rather have differences of opinion than consensus, even from the same site.

IGN says its coming out on the 12th and gamestop says the 19th. Anyone know which one is right?

i think you are 100% missing the point. People such as myself are simply wondering if the uk and the us version differ in some way or if it's just a difference in opinion. No where in either article is it mentioned and you'd think that something such as that should actually be mentioned to explain the difference...

                        clearer now?

Oh, I doubt the game is different in any discernable way, just the POV. One's a review from a guy in the UK, one's from here in the US. Tomato, tom-ahto...

Some poeple in the Uk are having there games shipped today. Might be worthwhile to see if the stores have it tomorrow.
