Help with upgrading cars in Forza 2 please

Im on level 8 and I have 6 cars so far. Should you upgrade every car you aquire? Im curious how I am going to afford an Enzo, for example, if I spend all of my money upgrading my cars. What is your strategy for upgrading? Thanks.

Well me I upgraded my CRX to the max with the stock motor and im pushing 512 HP, now im going to do an engine swap make the car RWD and take the upgrades and add it to the other motor so my car should push 723 hp around there and it only weights 1946 lbs so im going to be winning alot of races lol

It depends on what races you want to enter. Online there are restrictions that can be put on the race, so you may want to keep cars in each class. Also just because a car can be upgraded, doesn't mean it will handle well at high speeds.

Depends on offline vs. online. Offline, you can crank whatever you want into the car and kill them with pure horsepower. Online, you have severe restrictions a lot of times, so if you're running a room using Class D cars with <350, even a maxed 399 PI car will be eliminated. The trick is to only upgrade the cars enough to keep some within each PI range. I don't worry about cranking a car to monster status and absolutely decimating the competition...I just need the win, not the domination. You can check the opponents before entering a series by hitting the X button, and if your car is anywhere close to the top couple in PI rating, you should be fine. I won a couple series against the AI last night on Champion with a car that was 35 points beneath the top 2 cars in PI rating, so it's not imperative that you completely trick out your ride.

Don't upgrade for the sake of upgrading, upgrade when it's needed.

I hate that CRX...that's all. Hated it in Forza, sounds like it's going to be the same in Forza 2.

It's not. The CRX was destructive in the original Forza because the Acceleration was off the charts. Now you have the PI indicator that will not let you achieve the blistering acceleration while still keeping it in the same class. Even if you do, the handling suffers a bit and the top speed cars seem to be winning most of the battles lately. It's still early, but I was in more races last night with a mix of 8 different cars than I was the entire time I raced Forza 1. You saw that, it was a nice mix. Plus if there's a combination of some car that puts it out of its league, you can just drop the PI max 50 points and eliminate it. It's up to the room whether they want to allow a "super car" or not.

              Good point...

I'll be on more tonight with it. We couldn't get any games in last night, then you invited me as I was calling it a night. Tried for about 30 mins with Zeppo to get games in.

The first upgrade I always do is weight reduction, because it pretty much helps out every facet of driving the car. I then sort of alternate between engine and handling upgrades to keep the car balanced (at least from my warped perspective).

I haven't really maxed out any of my cars yet, as I'm saving up for a Dodge Viper, but all my cars so far have been very competitive.

I don't upgrade all mine. My Colbalt is upgraded with everthing but the engine so it handles like a Mo Fo ! I'm saving up for some other cars I want to trick out: 350z, Supra and Mustang.
