    Race Length: 20%

Yellow flags:On, we were going to try and have self administered yellow flags, but felt it may be to hard.

Collisions: We may start with them off, and see how the group does, and turn them on.
Wear will be set at 3x's forcing us to pit at least once, 4 tires, 2 tires, or no tires will be the individuals choice.

We race on Friday at 10pm Central, and we race 3 tracks a night.

We will discuss all of this in a league meeting before the race this Friday, and get some ideas....and set ground rules.
    Gang,

I'm a bit on the fence with the collisions turned on/off. For example, Daytona with collisions ON is a blast but Bristol can be very frustrating.

The yellows built in to the game are a hit or miss. I've seen some pretty big problems during restarts (leader getting a huge jump) and cars simply stalling out once the race goes green from a yellow.

The black flags are also very spotty. It's unclear how or when you could be penalized and it seems to differ from track to track. (We may be able to get away with turning this off as well.)

Also, I would suggest we run the first few races with gameplay/control settings set to Casual-automatic transmission. Trust me, I would prefer to have it set to Hardcore but restarts are a bear unless you really know what you're doing.

Lastly, the goal of our league to have fun. We will make changes as we see fit if it means we will get more enjoyment and less frustration.

    Now let's go racin'!

Hey guys, sorry I haven't been posting / know what's going with the league. I have been busy moving into my dorm and having fun with welcome week again. Right now I don't have internet connection for my 360, but hopefully it will be coming soon.

Re: NASCAR 08 Online Roll call (Take 2)

Just wanted to throw in my 2cents on settings (after playing 20+ online races):

Race Length and Wear: Should be set to force at least 1 pit, preferably 2.

Flags: Black flags should be off, due to shoddy nascar officials AI. Yellow flags I find better to be off, as well, due to caution laps not having any effect on fuel, and hit or miss pit info/interface during cautions.

Collisions: Here's where there may be a big debate...I've always been a sim/purist kind of guy, but for online races in this game I feel that having collisions turned off is the way to go (you can still draft with it off). The reason being is that it seems like the game is setup for just one "good" line to take at each turn (unlike real-life). So you end up with everyone fighting for that one line, which ends up leading to alot of unintentional contact. One bad mistake by one driver could therefore end up punishing a handful of innocent bystanders. But if the majority want this, I'll accept it.

Damage: On if collisions are off, Off if collisions are on.

Practice: Absolutely necessary prior to qualify/racing...I recommend at least a 10 lap practice round to compare times and tune cars.

Anyways, that's all I got...any feedback would be appreciated. I'm looking forward to tomorrow nite!

Good points! We definitely plan on practicing before each race. We will open a private room 1hr before race time. I'm leaning towards flags off as well.

                Off topic...

If that happens Big C, we will just run two rooms. I will wait and see how many people actually show up first. We have 14 signed up, I have a feeling it may only be 8 or 9 though.

I agree on all these points Toper. I think most of feel the same way, so there shouldn't be too much of controversy over any of this. We will all discuss tomorrow night, but I think you pretty much hit the nail on the head.

Hey Run, I just visited the new site, great job brother. That is much more aesthetically pleasing to the eye. Also not nearly cramped as the previous site.
