    New Track for Forza 2

The Twin Ring is up, 400 points.

    http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2...rack-pack.aspx

Seems expensive for one track (albeit 4 variaitions). I've moved on to PGR4, but if anyone gets it, shoot your impressions here, always liked that track.

Thanks for the heads up, EG.

I can't stand ovals, but I do love Motegi's infield road course so I'm buying this course pack. I'll have impressions on it later this evening.

Re: New Track for Forza 2

i read about it over on the forza 2 board. Damn this game has fell off the face of the earth, but overcharging for one track won't help it climb back up any xbox live usage charts. That's why they dropped it to 400 MS points. It was slated to come out at 600 MS points.

They could have potentially trapped people into buying needless MS points, but bumped it down. A mod over there explained it.

I just want you guys to know that the main impetus for this is directly related to the feedback we received here on the forums - particularly the concern that 600 MS points ($7.50) requires the user to purchase a block of 1000 MS points ($12.50) from Live Marketplace, whereas 400 MS points ($5.00) only requires the user to buy a 500 MS point package ($6.25) from Marketplace.

All in all, seeing as Motegi is the first DLC track we've ever done, going through this discussion has been educational for everyone. As I've said before, the goal of DLC isn't so much a revenue generator (production costs usually far outweigh your return) but it's more of a way to keep the community engaged in your game. We wanted to make sure that we keep our eye on that goal.

Re: New Track for Forza 2

Okay, here are my impressions of the Motegi course pack:

There are four variations of the two Motegi circuits, all of which appear on the Arcade side of the game. Specifically, the Time Trial and Free Run modes. They are named the Motegi Super Speedway, Motegi Grand Prix, Motegi East and Motegi West. They all appear in clear weather conditions with clouds in the sky covering the sun, and look great.

First I'll go over the Motegi Twin Ring Super Speedway oval. Basically there are two long constant-radius curves that are slightly banked at a 10-degree angle joined together by long straightaways, and one of the curves is tighter than the other. I didn't like this track when I first raced on it in Ferrari F355 Challenge, and my opinions of it hasn't changed. Anyway... in TT mode, you'll have to beat the set lap time racing in the 1998 Toyota VeilSide Supra Fortune 03 (S-Class).

Motegi Grand Prix is the long variation of the Motegi road course, which is the Japanese Grand Prix in all MotoGP games. So if you played any of those games, then you're already familiar with this circuit. In Time Trial mode, you'll have to beat the set lap time racing in the 2003 Honda #16 G'ZOX NSX GT race car (R3-Class).

Motegi East is the medium-length variation of the road coure. The layout is essentially the GP course minus the segment of the track including that start/finish straight along with the double-apex right-hander and the following double-apex left-hander. Instead, the start/finish line of this circuit is at the downhill straightaway that's just past the right hairpin and before the slow right-hander going under the bridge beneath the Super Speedway. In TT mode, you'll have to beat the set lap time of this track racing in the 1999 Lamborghini Diablo GTR (S-Class).

Motegi West is the short-length variation of the road course. This includes the start/finish straightaway of the GP circuit along with the double-apex right-hander, then a long straight (the backstraight of this track), leading to a few twisty slow curves and going back to the start/finish straight. In TT mode, you'll have to beat the set lap time of this track racing in the 2002 Honda Mugen Integra Type-R (C-Class).

The goal of DLC isn't a revenue generator? If you believe that, I have oceanfront property in Saskatchewan to sell you.

Good thing I didn't have liquid in my mouth when I was reading that BS from Micro$oft.

maybe the developers want to keep putting out content to keep their game alive, which is great. Turn 10 didn't have to listen to anyone and left the price at 600 MS points. I tend to think they are more right about just wanting to cover development costs. Once you think about it, only a fraction of game owners even use DLC months after the game has dropped off the xbox live charts..

Regardless, MS is the one who decides to bump up the price to make it a revenue generator. There's a reason why there are DLC's for 400, 600, etc. MS points, yet you can purchase 500 or 1000 points. It's like how hotdog buns come in a 10 pack, while the buns are in an 8 pack. you are either left with extra points to waste on pointless things to get your value, or you buy more to bump up your total to purchase other DLC.

Road America is a great track.

What does the 'XX' mean behind the 2005 Ferrari? Could it be the F430? Is the 2007 Audi R8 listed indicate the high performance sports car, or is it the prototype race car?

Anyway, thanks for the heads up. Can't wait for this download.

im pretty sure you have to download each seperately. I know the new one will be 400 MS points (available tommorrow). I cant remember how much Motegi and that car pack was, but i think it was 400 as well.
