        Burnout Paradise Demo Hands-on

Looks like the demo will contain a pretty nice chunk of content. About 1/10th of the map, 3 events and the demo will be playable online.

          Gamespot: Updated Hands-On

Where things really get interesting online are the online challenges, which feature both competitive and cooperative play that opens up the world of Paradise in exciting new directions. There are 50 challenges to take part in online, and the kinds of challenges available depend on the number of people online with you. Though there is some overlap, the list of challenges available to four people online is slightly different than the list available to five or six, and so on. These challenges run from the relatively mundane, such as crashing into one another or meeting at a particular spot on the map, to the considerably more interesting, such as power-parking challenges (which judge you at your skill in parallel parking your car at top speed).

The cooperative challenges are some of the best. One two-player challenge requires you both to barrel roll off ramps at the same time, which takes some delicate timing and communication between the two players. One eight-player challenge requires seven drivers on the steps at Ocean View, while the eighth player jumps over them.

I love this demo... i'm usually not a fan of arcade racers along the lines of PGR4 & the Burnout/NFS series but... this game is silky smooth, beautiful to look at, and just lots of fun.

Open ended racing in this game...I don't like it as I was a big fan of Burnout 3 on the old Xbox.

I really like the demo. I hated having to drive all the way back to were I started an event to try it again though, but at least the final game will have an event at pretty much every traffic light.

Also, this is the demo area compared to the final game.

The demo is fun to play. It had like 3 challenges the host could pick from. I wish we could of been able to have online race matches in the demo but they want everyone to go out and buy the game for that.

Yeah, the demo shows a lot of potential. Great graphics, great control as usual. The free roaming thing works better than I thought it would, given Burnout's chaotic play. It'll take some time to adjust to all of the new modes and learn the "lines" as that annoying DJ says, but it looks like it'll be top notch. I'm curious to see how this stacks up against next gen Midnight Club. Chances are I'll have them both just like on last gen.

Love the demo, online play is going to be amazing. The takedown with photo...awesome! Love the open, go anywhere world, combining with the already great Burnout play. Must own.

                            1. The demo reaffirms my position (imo) that Burnout has ruined every other racer for me for the rest of my life.

                            2. I will argue to the death that Burnout 3 is the best racer ever.

                            3. I will still buy this game and have a ton of fun with it.

                            4. I wish Burnout would dumb itself down. No checking, no confinement to one place, just a ton of different locales to race in. Ie, keep updating Burnout 3.

                            5. I will still buy and love this game.

I think that'll be great! I love the sense of speed in the demo, when I was on a highway, constant boost on I felt kinda "edgy" cause I was going so fast (if that makes sense).

It's kinda annoying when you fail a mission you have to drive all across the city to the start point, but maybe there are ways around that I don't know (sometimes you just want to beat a challenge and the 4 minutes driving back after each attempt sorta sucks). All that crap aside, online this should be awesome. I need to play a bit more, just tried the one "head to the finish line in 1 min 20 sec" challenge 3 times and couldn't get there in time yet. I think part of me is still used to "don't damage your car" racing, it'll take me a while to get back into "if you're not wreckin', you're not racin'" type games.
