Shocked at the lack of Colin Mcrea talk

I thought I would see some more talk baout this game on the boards. It is getting some solid reviews around the net and I absolutely love the game. I am not into the actual sport of rally racing but this seems to give a pretty realistic approach. I have not played all the rally games on the market but it is definately a better representation than RalliSport.

You do not have to be a "gear head" to tackle this game either. There is a good amount of tweaking you can do with your car but for the uneducated like me in this area the CPU handles the setup quite nice.

so far I have raced until the end of the first day of the Japan Rally and this game is just pure fun. From the weather effects to the excellent sound when using the "cockpit" view this game screams quality.

Also, for all you people who love seeing a good wreck this game has the best damage model on the market IMO. I can just sit and watch the replays one after another when my car is getting the crap beat out of it due to my out of control driving.

Like I stated earlier the game can be tweaked a lot but it is not necesary if you are car illiterate like myself. On the normal level of difficulty I have 2 first, a second, and a third through the first 4 Rally's.

I am sure this little rant has probably went in a million different directions but what I was trying to get acrossed is that the game is a blast and if you are a fan of racing you owe it to yourself to check it out

    CMR3 Progress Report

I love Colin McRae Rally 3. And I'm always willing to talk strategy a racing game like this, it's just that I can be a lazy mofo at times, heh.

And to highlight my laziness, I will post something here that is similar to what I already posted up at Sports Reviewers forum.

I'm currently tied for 2nd place overall in my second season after 3 races with little chance of winning the championship, as the 1st place driver has 54 points to my 34. Only way I can win this season's championship is if the 1st place driver retires, or somehow does a major choke job in any of the final 3 rallies. At any rate, the second season dramatically steps up the difficulty over the cakewalk first season due to the competition getting a lot faster and the car setup strategy being emphasized a lot more.

The opening U.K. Rally of the second season kicked my *** (damn rain). I was like 45 seconds behind the 1st place driver in the Subaru Impreza WRX/44S (forget his name). I made up some time in Spain and at Finland, but I'm still 22 seconds behind heading into the USA Rally (4th event), and could've made up even more time if I had driven better in both rallies, and had used more appropriate car settings. (I regret not using hard tarmac tires and switching to high gear ratio instead of using soft tarmac tires and medium gear ratio for the first 3 stages at Spain.) It has been more difficult for me to drive the faster Ford Focus WRC '03 over gravel surfaces after the first season due to the lighter chassis, but I'm beginning to adjust better. Looks like I'm going to have to alter the power balance to the rear in order to stop my constant bad habit of drifting too far outside after getting past the apex of a 2nd/3rd/4th-gear corner.

Quick question: Are the tracks for the second season all different tracks then the first season?

            CMR talk

From what I've come across playing through Championship mode, the first event of each season is different, while the rest of the rallies follow the same order: Spain, Finland, U.S.A., Japan, then Sweden. The first event for Season 1 is the Australian Rally, and the first event for Season 2 is the U.K. Rally. And although I haven't gotten to it yet to prove this, I believe that the Greece Rally is likely the Season 3 opener.

I am waiting for the PC version so I can use my wheel. Until then I will have to live with CMR 2.0 and Nascar 2003

                        I'm loving it too Injunwal.

The graphics in this game are like no other rally game or racing game at that. The rain and snow effects are amazing!

The handling is right on for a rally game. Very challenging to master. I love it!

Exactly. I can't stand using a controller for racing games when I have my behemoth sitting 5 feet away for PC racing.
