    rfactor online purchase & mods?

Has anyone purchased rfactor through their website? If so, do you have any problems installing mods?

Reason I ask is that I am considering purchasing online after playing the "trial" version. However, I read a few threads on other sites relating to problems with installing mods with the downloaded rfactor purchase (no answers / solutions were given in those posts).

I would be looking to install some stock car / nascar mods if I purchase it. If the game can't run the mods, then I don't want to blow $40 on the game.

No problems whatsoever. You can find any and every rFactor mod at www.rfactorcentral.com.

If your PC racing focus is NASCAR, then I would give only a lukewarm recommendation to rFactor. It's a FANTASTIC game, but the code is designed for road racing, which it does really, really well.

Yes, there are NASCAR mods for rFactor, with the NSS and new TPSCC COT mods as the best, but neither can compare to the brilliance of NASCAR Racing 2003 Season and all of its available mods, tracks and paint jobs.

Take the rFactor plunge if you're interested in road racing and NASCAR, or if you're going to join an online NASCAR league that uses rFactor. But if you're looking for the best NASCAR PC sim ever made, you can do much better than rFactor. NR 2003 is all you need.

Problem is, NR 2003 is very hard to find since it's out of print. But there are ways of finding it online. Few moral qualms, either, since the developer, Papyrus, has been out of business for three or four years.

      Take care,
      PK

Thanks, PK. One more question? I noticed that the trial version's dirctory only has 1 folder in the program files. I would have to assume that once the full version is purchased, all of the directories and files are unlocked and viewable, correct? I downloaded the NSS mod and tried to install to the trial version, but I got an "invalid data" error. I just want to take precautions so it doesn't happen when trying to install to the full version.

FYI, one of your responses in another thread (nascar) prompted me to look into rfactor. I'm about as casual an offline racing gamer as you can get. I actually liked Nascar Simracing (by EA sports.. don't get me started on those guys), when I first played it until the horrible AI became apparent. I then decided to go with GTR2 which has great physics and AI, but I just don't enjoy the GT cars and road courses as much as the stock cars and ovals.

Also looked into NR2003, but I'm just not into the racing enough to spend $150 on the game. Yet another sports series ruined by EA sports. I could only imagine what the Nascar games would be like today if Papyrus was still in business developing them.

Yes, all folders are open with the full rFactor game.

PM me if you're interested in NR 2003.
