    GT5: Prologue vs. Forza 2 vs. PGR4

    VideoGamer.com has posted a article comparing GT5, Forza 2 and PGR4.

"We won't offer a verdict on which game we think is best, but feel free to post what you think in the comments section below."

Screens don't do much justice but GT should have the better graphics.

Forza though will be a better game overall though since it is complete and GT Prologue is just a intro to what GT5 will be.

No the pics don't do much justice for Prologue 5. But like you said, it's only a taste of what is coming. The one thing that I noticed between Forza 2 and Prologue 5 is that the lighting is much better in F2. The pic with all the billboard ads has a cool lighting effect with sun rays shining thru on F2 but nothing anywhere close on P5.....again it's early, only time will tell how GT5 ends up.

Screen caps don't do any game justice, but it's pretty obvious that GT5:P looks the most realistic of the bunch, especially if you have played them all. I personally like the visual style of PGR 4 though. The stylized look to the car models, gorgeous city backdrops, weather, and unmatched motion blur, all make for a visual feast that's got a bit more flair then the other two games.

Graphically it is hard to top PGR4 environments not to mention some pretty decent lighting. Prologue is probably second best visually if you take all the flat lighting and backgrounds out of the equation. But that is like saying I can shoot hoops as good as Labron James if you take away his eyesight. So all things totaled I would say Forza 2 and Prologue are almost a dead heat. Prologue has one last trump card though - fantastic car models - which push it ahead overall but then Forza 2 drops its damage model on the crowd and its all even again. Too close to call in the end. All we are left knowing is that all three games are so beautiful that nobody but the biggest fanboy biatch whould be disappointed in any of them.

PGR4 is one of the most underrated racers released in a long time. Fantastic game on and offline, yet no one gave it any pub when it hit the shelves.

Re: GT5: Prologue vs. Forza 2 vs. PGR4

PGR4 looks better than both, completely agree.

Between Forza 2 and GT5P, GT gets the nod but not by a slam dunk. For example, the environments in Forza look better to me as do certain cars. Having owned the WRX, I think Forza got the distinctive color of the car a lot closer.

Based on initial impressions, it seems Forza blows GT's racing AI, car physics, and online functionality out of the water. I was a religious GT guy for a long time but can't play GT anymore because of how predictable the AI was in that series.

However, GT5 looks phenomenal- the cockpit view is beautiful. Not as good as PGR4 but very impressive given the number of cars they have in the game.

I felt that forza's AI was trash. They were always on a rail and would even knock you out of the way in turns because you were in their way.

Are you talking Forza 2 ? I had a lot of issue with the AI in Forza but Turn10 seemed to make some good improvements with Forza 2. There are still a few ahole AI drivers but each seems to have their own personality and once you get to know then you know who is going to close the door hard on you and not give you any space in corners if you push them. In fact Forza 2's AI is pretty much the cream of the console crop. I don't think GT is going to come close to competing with Forza 2's AI - the only game that might is GRID.

There was only one AI driver that acted like a butthole, I forget the name. Something Italian though.

I definitely did not think the drivers in Forza were driving on rails. Even if they were, I can guarantee its 1000x better than what I experienced throughout the GT series. In fact, the Forza 2 AI is quantum years ahead of what we've seen in GT.

Agreed. It got buried by COD4 and a few other fall games. Plus it released a little too close to Forza2, which my friends were still racing, but I found boring.
A few of my friends recently picked up PGR4 and we've been racing on Sunday nights.

Why are you guys proclaiming PGR over GT when no one here has played it?

Most review sites are saying GT is the best looking racer on the market. My friend has the Japanese version of GT, personally I think it tops Forza and PGR graphically. Mode wise no.

Because people here know the history of GT. It's like Miller Lite -- tastes great, less filling. All graphics, no gameplay.

GT has no damage model. It has brain-dead AI. Yet Sony has the balls to call it "The Real Driving Simulator?"

Which is why I'll take PGR4 or the entire MSR/PGR series. It's never hidden from what it is, an arcade racer that is gorgeous to look at. I respect that more, and have had more fun playing MSR/PGR and Midtown Madness than I ever had playing Gran Turismo or Forza.
