Re: F1 License Up for Grabs
Does anyone remember Grand Prix Legends? Forget about the current F1 with it's parade of cars and mostly boring tracks...someone needs to develop a next gen version of GPL. I might actually buy a steering wheel for something that cool.Steam: BahnzoComment

Re: F1 License Up for Grabs
Yes, it was, still is, the most realistic sim ever made! I still have it. Man, was that game hard!..too hard for me. I just wish they had made an easy option to drive the cars. I'm really missing out on this sim because I could not keep the car on the track!, like driving on ice!!..lol But people put hours and hours of practice to get it right and having fun. I don't have the time, it's really too much time.
But it is still consider the best sim...and yes, these cars are much better then today's F1 cars as far as racing enjoyment.

Re: F1 License Up for Grabs
GPL is hard, but not undriveable. As long as you feather coming out of turns and don't slam on the brakes you'll be good. Also a good steering wheel and pedal set does a body good.lol.
But start off driving with the Eagle b/c for its width. I learned to drive with that car and have moved onto the Ferrari and Lotus (also good to start off with as its the best car but twitchy)
If you need some setups let me know and I can upload them to here, if ya want.
Would like to get some online through GPL, F1C99-02, N2k3 w/superspeedway.net updates with some guys from here that would be cool, anyways.
Cheers,

Hi Chia51,
Yea, I would love if you can upload some setups..thanks!! yes, the Eagle is a little easier..but I still have problems going around the tracks, ie spinning out too many times!..lol. I'm in the process of getting a new wheel too, maybe the G25 and I'm also waiting for my Obutto Racing Seat!..Then I'll be ready for some racing!!..lol That's why I'm not ready yet to go online at the moment..
I have rFactor and I'm soon getting Live For Speed which is a very good sim...I have the demo right now. Also, thinking of getting this new ARCA simracing...It's a Nascar type of sim. I'm not good at the ovals but people are saying it is a blast racing online too!!...
Chia, for GPL, I heard there was a mod that made it even more driver friendly. A mod called I think GPL66 for the 1966 season. Is this true? Would love to download it if it is true that a noobee like me can drive these cars!!
Thanks for the offer!!
PS,now in the UK?..why the move...job?...I bet you like it there!!
peace

Re: F1 License Up for Grabs
Codemasters
Formula One is to have its first official computer game in more than two years next season following the capture of a new official licencing deal with British gaming company Codemasters, autosport.com can reveal.
With Sony having published the most recent official F1 game last summer, based on the 2006 season and available only on PlayStation consoles, Codemasters' deal will see F1 return to a multiformat platform for the first time in many years.
The game is set to be available on all major home consoles, as well as handheld and PC gaming formats.
After weeks of discussion between Codemasters and Formula One Administration, it is anticipated that the company will produce the first game next year, based on the 2009 F1 season. This will be the first game that Lewis Hamilton will appear in.
Rod Cousens, chief executive officers of Codemasters, said: "Formula One is ambitious in expanding its reach with more circuits planned beyond recent additions in the Middle East and China. It is also ambitious in expanding its reach via technology.
"The digital communities that computer and video gaming creates will play a key role in further growing the F1 audience and connecting them globally.
"As a world-leading creator of driving games, this alliance with F1 is the jewel in Codemasters' racing crown and creates an undisputed segment champion."
Chris Denning, chairman of Codemasters, added: "Codemasters' success and recent innovations in the racing game space makes the company more than appropriately tuned for the challenge.
"The combination of F1's new momentum of expansion and Codemasters' contemporary technology and past experience is the breaking of a new dawn for the sport, on the track and on the HD game screen."
Codemasters Studios has already begun preparations for the major task of creating the new game, by strengthening their team with personnel from the now defunct Sega Racing Studio.
There are 350 people working on the project, which will be based on the EGO Engine that Codemasters has put to good use on the Colin McRae: DIRT and soon-to-be-released Race Driver: GRID titles.Go Noles!!! >>----->Comment

Re: F1 License Up for Grabs
I'm unsure whether this is good or bad news about Codemasters getting the F1 license.
EA did a terrific job with the F1 license, at least for PC games. Meanwhile, Codemasters is veering quickly toward the arcade side of the street with its flagship racing and rallying franchises.
If the Codies got the license five years ago, I would have rejoiced. Now I'm not so sure.
Plus, as always, the existing and future rFactor F1 mods probably will kick the sh*t out of anything Codemasters produces.
Take care,

If you cats are looking for the most forgiving car in Grand Prix Legends, start with the Cooper. It's the most stable car in the game, but it's also one of the slowest.
The Brabham is my favorite GPL car for a fine combination of stability and performance.
Take care,

On the bright side it will be multi-platform. Shame that all of these franchises, short of the NBA and NHL, are hell bent on only exclusives anymore.
But who even saw that one coming - Codemaster outbidding EA? Guess that Take2 deal is taxing the coffers over there.Comment
