    Setup problem

So, I've been trying to figure out this issue I've been having, both at Atlanta and Texas, two similar tracks. I've got a decent car, but I'm having a handling problem getting into the corners.

Primarily my car seems like it's not settling properly when getting into the corner; it has a "sawing" motion to it like it's not stabilizing. I don't think it's an issue with going in too fast, but rather a weight transfer issue. Seems like I've tried everything, springs, shocks, but nothing seems to alleviate it. To me, it's gotta be a bump/rebound issue with how the car is responding to the weight shift forward when I get into the corner.

I'm gonna work on it some more tonight, but thought I'd toss this out there if anyone has any ideas. It's driving me nuts that I can't figure out how to stabilize the car better at these two tracks.

I haven't gotten to those yet but when I do I will post something.

Could be a host of different issues. However I am not sure what it is you mean by "sawing". Do you mean left - right, left - right? Then maybe you have a cross weight problem and need to adjust the wedge. Or your car is bottoming out. May need to use stiffer springs.

It's weight shifting...when entering the corner the car's weight shifts from the rear to front and its causing the car to wobble left to right as it settles. It's creating a situation where it's alternating push/loose. I'm pretty stiff on the springs so I'm fairly sure it's not that....wedge wouldn't cause that and it's not bottoming out either.

What about the rear sway bar since you have weight coming from the rear to the front or possibly the track bar

Yeah, sounds like a sway bar issue to me too if there are already stiff springs on the car.

Try to adjust to slightly shorter diameter front bar or slightly longer diameter back bar as it's better to have a tad of understeer than any oversteer in stock car racing.

            Re: Setup problem

I know exactly what you mean...the front was unstable. I softened both front shocks one level, which stabilized the nose getting into the corner. At that point, I was able to correct some other issues with tire pressure and sway bar, but I had to soften the front of the car to get it to roll through corner entry smoothly.

i decreased the wedge a bit and drop left side tires a 1/2 pound or so. Now im getting in and staying in the corners.

What is everyone's lap times for Atlanta?

I spent a few hours tonight working on my setup and I am struggling with consistancy. I'm running in the mid 29's to low 30's still.

I went back and started over from the veteran setups and after thinking about what the car was doing, this is what I did as well. The car wasn't getting traction soon enough upon corner entry, so softening the front shocks a bit took care of that. I had the front much too stiff and that in short was the problem.

I'm really liking the depth of the setup model in this game. I'm becoming addicted to the science of squeezing that extra .2 a lap from a car.

                    Same. A lot.

I knew exactly what you were describing, because I had the exact same thing. It's like you could have taken a spike and driven it through the center of my car and just rotated it slightly from side to side. Just completely unstable.
