    Re: Wheel vs. Gamepad

I was gonna get a wheel this week, but I can't get it right now. I had to go somewhere for the week.

I just got the wheel and I love it. I'm a 34 year old father of two who barely gets time to play so I always felt like I'm at a disadvantage when using a control pad. The wheel just feels so much more natural than the pad and I reduced my lap times in the first night with it. If a person is a good gamer and has really good stick skills, I can see the reluctance to switch. If you're like me and every correction becomes a major overcorrection that sends you into a wall, try the wheel. Wally World has them for $80 on their website and you can print that out and have BB or CC pricematch it.

As for logistics, I play sitting in a little cheap video game rocker. All along I planned to make a little stand that looks almost like one of those breakfast in bed platters and clamp the wheel to it. So far I've been using it in my lap and it has worked surprisingly well. I'll eventually get around to mounting it though to get the most out of it.

Ya, my son is 6 months old, I don't get much time to play myself. But if I can get in between a nap and my wifes scowls, I can get a few games in!

I'm running 80% linearity now. It gives me a little deadband near the center so the car isn't so twitchy.
