Finally got an action packed race.

So I switched the race length as advised by some people on this board and finally got an action packed race. I bumped the length up from 40% to 75% and in my first race of the season at Daytona in Career mode with the trucks I got 4 cautions. 3 drivers didn't finish the race one due to a blown engine which happened right in front of me while I was drafting him and 2 completely wrecked out. I watched guys beatin' and bangin' down straight aways around corners and at lap 59 or 75 I viewed the Big One in my review mirror then I watched it on replay and counted 7 trucks that were involved in it 3 trucks finished more than 2 laps down (obviously the ones involved in the big one) and when all was said and done I finished 5th, I had the truck to win since I was in practice mode for nearly 100 laps prior to the race working on the set up (which I'm still hit and miss on) but when Clemons or some made up driver like that blew his motor in front of me I smacked into the back of him which dropped my speed nearly 1 1/2 MPH slower and almost a full second off my lap times which forced me to drive almost the last quarter of the race out my rear view mirror as opposed to my windshield but hey I qualified 5th and finished 5th with damage so all in all not a bad day at the office and with all the action and excitement I am now more hooked than before. Sorry for the long read but I just had to share for those that haven't found a way to get more action.

I guess I should add that I'm playing on Pro, Legend / Custom because minimal help is still on I think on two of the settings, Obviously 75%, 2x tire ware, A.I. Normal and no Adaptive A.I.

Glad you found the right fit for length of your races and you see cautions.

Dialing in the truck during practice is always the best feeling, up until then you wanna pull your hair out lol

Sounds like you had a great time. This game is so much better than last year. I just can't stop playing.

Thanks for sharing that experience with us GJEM. I'm trying to limit myself to 25% races with 3X wear for the time being, but as much as I'm loving this game, I can see myself going up. I get fanny fatigue after 30 minutes, so I find an opportune time to pause it and stretch a bit even at 25%. I still have to slap myself to believe that this game is as good as it is... particularly offline!

              Gents,

Just a quick question... Has anyone else seen the AI come almost if not a complete stop during their turn to pit? I was racing at California last night with 50% length, 2x wear and no AI catch turned on. During the first pit stop the AI decided to come in semi all together. They ended up clogging up turn four so I stayed high and managed to gain about 10 positions because they slowed down so much.

One other thing, I noticed that if you don't auto pit (by pressing A) the pit sequence works much better. I used to always opt to auto pit and wound up being placed out of position during the restarts. Going through the pit stop sequence takes longer but it's worth.

Well for the first question maybe it was just your perception of how slow they were going. You figure both them and you have to slow down to pit road speed I think California is 55mph but when your flyin at well over 160 it might have just looked that way because I see the same thing when they pit but in actuality they were going the correct speed. Then take into account that they all pitted at the same time so everyone had to check up in order not to hit the person in front of them before hitting pit road entrance.

Second comment ya I've noticed that also, completely by accident I needed to make a wedge and tape adjustment and noticed I actually gained positions rather than losing 5-10 spots and just to make sure it just wasn't a fluke I did the same thing at the next pit stop and again gained spots. Still can't say for sure this is concrete but I still haven't auto pitted since then.

                  Run,
Are you making the same amount of pit stops as the AI on 50% x2, or are you pitting more than the AI? I try to conserve and draft when ever possible, but it seems like I pit anywhere from 5-10 laps eariler.

Before my profile got corrupted I would have to make 1 more pit stop than the AI. Now that my performance points are at default, I pit 1-2 laps before or after the AI. I'm really enjoying the game much more 'offline' now that I have my performance points back to 50 at all they track types.

Hmmmm....So I may have to create a new profile to get everything back to 50 for all. I love the offline portion also, but the pits were getting to me,but if that is what it will take for me to fix my issue offline then that is what I will do. thanks

That doesn't make any sense unless EA really messed up on it, more points = better running car and with the aero upgrade I would think you would pit less?

Seems that the more you upgrade the car, the more fuel you burn. With everything left on default I'm able to run just about the same pit stops as the AI.

Online is a different story. I'm competitive on races 30%+ long due to gas mileage. However, in the short races I sometimes get lapped.

Hmm, when you get time, I would be interested to see how long we could go before running out of gas at Daytona. My car is 100 and I have a decent setup.

Believe it or not, that's the only track I haven't tested at. I'm just not a big fan of holding down the right trigger the entire race. I'll test it tonight though and post my results.
