    Las Vegas Setup Discussion

If I'm not mistaken, I'm pretty sure I've read online somewhere that there are guys running in the 28 - 29 second range at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. I've tried for hours upon end trying to get my car running that fast, and simply cannot do it.

Are those lap times in test n' tune or career mode with the performance points being utilized or online? The best I've managed so far is about a 30.778 or thereabouts on Xbox Live with my buddies. I've tried setups making minor adjustments from the Veteran Setup, to almost complete overhauls in caster, camber, swaybars, gearing, front and rear wing, spring rate, tire pressure, ride height, etc. that are way different than the veteran starting point. Regardless, no matter what setup I use, I almost always run close to the same times, and it's getting frustrating.

Am I sorely missing something here?

I am almost certain that I am using the default veteran setup with some minor tweaks and that is in race trim. It is more about being able to roll thru the corners, meaning easing off of the gas, using little to no break and then getting back on the gas as soon as you feel the car stabilize. I use the Microsoft Racing Wheel and it boils down to being smooth and hitting your marks.

      Rules...what are your lap times?

I never use the brakes unless I'm coming into the corners too hot. I'd say I'm hitting about 192mph-194mph just before turn one, and 190mph or so just before turn 2 after the back straightaway. On a good lap I'm holding mid 160's mph through the turns.

High 29's to low 30's in race trim

        Mid 29's in qualifying trim.

I know it isn't the best but I haven't seen 28's being turned on Vegas yet but I am sure some are probably making it happen. I haven't spent much time at Vegas so that is probably why.

I just hopped on to see what I was doing in comparision.

Hitting around 194-198 mph before turn one and around 194 before turn 2. In the corners I range from 161 up to 170 if I didn't go in too deep and fast. I have a very aggressive setup that could cause the engine to blow in very long races. Not sure if it would hold up as I have not done a very long race with it.

Thanks for taking the time to do that.

The difference in mph almost makes it seem as though the difference could lie in gearing, and possibly grille tape or downforce since it appears we're close in speed through the corners. I've tried 3.60, 3.55, and 3.45 (w/modified 1st - 4th). I'm running either 50% or 55% grille tape, and 6.00" front splitter and 15 degrees on the rear. Just wondering if maybe on my "tighter" setup, I'm running to much downforce and it's costing me mph on the straightaways?

Did you drastically change your spring rate and ride height?

Send me a friend invite and I will upload my car for you to play around with. Just for the record, I drive like Kyle Bush and thus prefer a loose car. It is easy to lose it in the exit of the corners if your are not careful. Give it few laps to get your tires up to temp before pushing it.

No problem. To go back to your earlier question my setup is aggressive in the gearing. If you are running your car tighter for grip then ya you will give up some top end speed. I can use the veteran default setup as is and run low 30's but I chew the tires up big time as I like to slide my car around the turns.

Went ahead and sent you a FR via Xbox.com.

How many laps do you usually run? The league I'm going to be racing in will most likely be in the 40-60 lap range.

I just started a new career using 100 % to make it more realistic for me. It is a lot but it is only 1 race per week for me so it is all good.\

I also upload my Vegas car though it still needs alot of work. I changed the gears some so that you shouldn't blow the engine if running up to 60 laps. I really don't know if my original setup was going to be too aggressive as I have not tested it out on long runs yet.

                        Rules,

I tried to get the setup from your EA Locker on Friday, but it said "No Data Available". I'm thinking it may have been a server issue or something since I also looking in another buddies locker, and it said the same thing. I'll try again hopefully sometime this week.

                        Thanks again.
