Why is this game so easy?

This game really easy to play in the play now mode, even on Legend setting I still feel like my car is superfast above the AI and my dont have my stats maxed out by no means. It seems like the draft is over exaggerated because I catch up to the AI too fast. Am I missing something here?

If you're talking about NASCAR '09, don't upgrade your car.

Legend is not difficulty. Legend is handling.

Before you go to a race, you can press X on the 360, or Square on the PS3. That takes you to the advanced race options. Your AI is probably set to Easy. It's entirely possible to be racing on a Legend handling car with an Easy AI field.

You can't be competitive at all at most tracks with a default car, at least once you hit Nationwide and Cup.

I respecfully disagree. I've been very competitive and even won races with a default car. Granted it's not easy, but it's do'able.

Wait a second here. Some tracks are much easier than others. I was competitive and even sometimes winning on the Superspeedways, Michigan and a few other places but I found that at the fast 1.5 milers (which are a pretty big part of the schedule) you just don't have the horse power to keep up. I was literally getting run over by AI cars. Others have said the same thing so it's not just me. I could get by just fine in Trucks for the most part but Nationwide and Cup I felt at an insane disadvantage on these tracks.

Are you actually competitive at places like Atlanta, Texas, Vegas etc. with the default car? And if so can you tell me what you do setup wise to make up for the lack of horse power?

Oh yeah, and are you playing on Hard difficulty? As TCrouch said, many people play on Legend driving mode and don't know that the AI difficulty is entirely separate from that. Or maybe Normal difficulty is the way to go with a default car?
