    Offline Racing Series?

How many people would be interested in participating if I started one?

Basically you choose a car and I put it into my Nascar Racing 2003 game, and we let the AI race it out. I have a whole bunch of stuff to make it interesting that I have gotten from other offline leagues. Like a progression system so over time your driver will get better by his performance, for example if you win the pole you will get +2 to your Qualification skills, or if you win the race you will get +2 to whatever kind of track it was.

I just wanted to get a rough estimate of who would be willing to participate in this, I think if we could get a good number of people it would be really fun.

I'd like to participate... sign me up for the 2009 #5 Mark Martin car.
    • Can I email you my car?
    • Can you email us the replay?

      Re: Offline Racing Series?

Yeah, I could do both for you. I'm planning on running one race a week, so that means that I would get time to sit there and make a highlight video and draw it out like a real race so it will be more interesting.

Do you need my email or do you have it?

and I was thinking about some ideas today and was just wondering what you had in mind.

I was thinking of calling it the OSRS (Operation Sports Racing Series) Cup. If we have like 20 people I'm thinking of racing more towards the 1.5 mile or less tracks. I think 25 will end up being the magic number of what I decide to do.

If we go with full Cup schedule here was my idea.

For the off-season we could do one of two things, or maybe combine the both.
      1. We just run a practice session at Daytona and the top 2 or maybe the top 5 in practice times will get a little ratings boost that will help them for Daytona.
      2. We let each person choose a type of track they want to go to. For example Richmond, Michigan, and Daytona, and they will get a ratings boost for that type of track.

Also what do you think for teams?
I got an idea from another offline series. Teams of 2 get a +2 bonus, Teams of 3 get a +3 bonus, and teams of 4 get a +4 bonus. I was thinking that we could do any car could team up with another one as long as they are the same manufacturer.

I also have many things I'm thinking of, I just wanted to know what the thoughts are on those ideas.

        Re: Offline Racing Series?

I've been wanting to do this for quite sometime. My problem is lack of time. Between work and the kids it's 100 challenging for me to dedicate the time to a project like this.

        Here's my skeleton suggestion...
        • Run the same schedule as the real NASCAR.
        • Allow teams... Your extra point system sounds pretty good.
        • Allow folks to re-allocate car ratings from week to week. (Have a cap though.)
        • Allow multiple cars per person. This will make it x2s more interesting to follow a race.
        • If you can, broadcast the race!

Email me at [email protected] and I'll send you my car file.
