Pro Race Driver for PC Question

Anybody else have the PC version of this game ??

I just picked it up and tried it the night before last. I am using the Logitech MOMO wheel and pedals that I currently use with Nascar 2003. While racing in PRD and looking at the chase cam, I noticed that the car looks extremely funny when making turns !!! Almost like it is pivoting on pole in the middle of the car instead of a natural/realistic looking turn into the curve. Has anybody else noticed this?? Is this a setting issue on my MOMO??

    Thanks for your help !!!

Yes, the handling model is "funny".

A wheel is ugly to drive it with.

Once I plugged in my XBox controller on PC, it worked like a charm.

Thanks for confirming that Terry. How do you go about using (connecting) an XBox controller on a PC?? Also, I wonder if that would work also on my PC version of MVP Baseball 2003....Hmmm

Yes, it works BEAUTIFULLY in MVP on PC.

Basically, you cut off the end of an XBox extension cord. Then cut off the end of a USB mouse. Both sets of wires are perfectly color coded. I soldered the wires together, wrapped them in electrical tape, and then downloaded some 3rd party XCtrl program that lets you test and set up the motors in windows.

I used it with Motocross Madness 2, and it even had force feedback.

Okay, I think I can find enough electrical apptitude in myself to make that connection. Just a few more questions and I'll leave you be

                1) Can you give me a link to that 3rd party Xbox control file??

                2) In the case of MVP 2003, do all of the buttons function/control the same way they do on the Xbox game?? Do they do the same things?? That's been the hardest part for me in making the transition between the Xbox and Pc versions of the game (different control buttons).

                3) On a side note, how does F1 2002 work with the MOMO?? Does it also have the same weird feel to it as the PRD game?? I bought the game yesterday and have'nt tried it yet.

That's it for now...thanks for all your help bro

MVP on PC is fully customizeable, so as far as does it work exactly like XBox, I don't remember. I don't remember the exact setup on XBox, but you can assign anything to any button on the pad on PC, so I'm sure it can be really close. No button to assign "start" as your pause, however.

As for F1 2002, no it works GREAT with a wheel. PRD suffers from "console-port-itis". They designed it to work with a console gamepad, and forgot that people use wheels on PC racers. F1 2002 is, thankfully, VASTLY better than the console versions, and it is currently the cream of the F1 crop. It gets huge thumbs up from me.

Okay cool, thanks Terry. I was wondering what your personal thoughts were on F1 2003, but you must have been reading my mind. I put great value in your opinion bro !!

With that being said, what is your overall impression with PRD ?? Like or dislike ??

I'm split down the middle. I kind of like the little movie segments, but I'd like to be able to choose my own personality instead of being the punk that Ryan McKane is.

The driving model ultimately makes me frown upon the title, however. I want a simulation slider, or something that lets the game actually handle like a sim. Just moving it to sim side makes it easier to lock up the brakes, yet you still have the weird cornering (at least in my experience).

I could live without the game, but I wouldn't send it to the coaster pile just yet.
