In response to this desire, I just sent this email. Will anything come of it? Who knows. It might have a better chance if others sent in similar emails, so feel free to chime in accordingly. On ea.com, you can find the "email us" link under the help section at the bottom of the page.
While I understand that the NASCAR game fanbase represents what may be best described as a niche audience that does not generate the revenue that the Madden or NCAA fanbases do, I can say that, based upon the reactions I have seen on several message boards, a significant number of people were as disappointed as I was to have no new edition in the NASCAR series.
Several people have wondered aloud if EA would release some sort of update for NASCAR 09 for the new season. On the surface this sounds like a great idea, though I'm sure that licensing and the allocation of resources would scupper this idea.
This brings me to the main point of my email. As demonstrated by the fact that a significant number of people still play older titles such as NASCAR Thunder 2003 on PC due to the ever evolving modifications available in the gaming community to keep the game up to date.
With that in mind, I can't help but to think that a patch to allow further customization of NASCAR 09, by means of something similar to a creation center in other titles, would be a viable option. Given the fact that many NASCAR 09 fans have taken full advantage of the paint booth feature to create countless car paint jobs, the resources to update the game are already available to NASCAR 09 players- they only need to be able to apply them.
By offering downloadable content that would enable the NASCAR 09 community to add current or custom paint jobs to computer controlled cars, while also being able to edit driver attributes, many gamers would continue to play NASCAR 09 instead of turning to other games.
