Need 4 Speed Hot Pursuit 2

Has anyone seen the media and shots on his game at IGN. I think it will be the best raer hands down on the XBOX. Segaq GT is getting a lot of attention, but I think NFS will blow it away. It was the best racer on PS!. Better than Turismo if you ask me. Cop chase mode is beautiful.

Need for Speed 2 is one of the few racing games I have enjoyed. ... The new one looks awesome!

      Ink:

Agree with you 100 percent. NFS III: Hot Pursuit was the best of the NFS series for the PSX, so this game could be killer.

Sega is trying to clone Gran Turismo 3 with Sega GT 2002, and I can only ask why? GT3 is one of the most dull racing games on the planet after the initial, "Holy [censored], look at those graphics!" factor wears off. The game features drone-like AI racers, no damage model, and it's easy as hell to simply overpower the competition with modifications for victory.

GT3 essentially is a car-collecting game, not a racing game.

      Take care,

Re: Need 4 Speed Hot Pursuit 2

So I am a couple of months late in posting a reply ... such is life with two young ones.

I am sure this is old news now, but EGM stated that the GC and Xbox versions of the new NFS were not up to par with the PS2 version. I can only assume that EA is putting their "A" team behind the PS2 versions of games, and the best of the rest of the other two systems. Kind of stinks because I planed to get the GC version - wanted the nicer graphics (the whore in me and all that), but if there are frame rate issues than I will be heading to the PS2 version.

As far as Sega trying to copy the GT series, I say why not? It is clear that the "Sony" public loves the GT series and GT3 was a great game. When I talk to casual gamers, most think GT3 is a great racing game and/or that it is very hard. Of course the graphics are a big winner for this crowd, but is that a bad thing?

I would never argue that GT3 is a great racer, but I would argue that the GT series is much more than car collecting. GT3 is a great game if you enjoy racing (maybe driving is the better verb) with tons of different cars. The physics may not be spot on for ever single car in the game, but more often than not the developers got it right, which is pretty damn amazing considering all the cars and various setup options. GT3 always manages a few hours a month in my PS2 - I think it is a great value.

Racing is not bad in GT3 if you happen to stick to restricted categories, but the AI flat out sucks. Then again, I love F355, and its AI is 100% pattern based. In fact, the patterns in the new PS2 port are the same as the patterns in the original DC version!

So anyway, I say there is a place for F355 - sim lovers will eat it up. There is a place for GT3 - sim lovers should love the driving physics and the mass market loves the "racing" action, and all the cars (and graphics!). Finally, I love the NFS series - perfect blend of sim action and pure arcade racing adrenalin.

I was dead set on getting this for the XBOX, but after reading the different reviews in EGM about this game I have decided to go with the PS2 version.
