      Thank you. Do you know typically how long it takes for demo's to open to Silver accounts?

          1 week so it should be available now based on the first post being the 20th so it should've been available since yesterday.

              Did they take out the damage meter from when you press start in the first game it showed each car part and a percentage?

                Love the physics and handling! Graphics look great. Feels like a rally version of Grid, which isn't a bad thing.

                  Re: Dirt 2 Demo Impressions

                  I'm a big fan of the demo so far. The drifting is already ten times better than any possible sliding offered in the original Dirt. I'm warming up to the X-Games-like atmosphere on some tracks and I'm pleased to see it will not all be arena races. I still need to drive swiftly through wooded areas with sharp turns and narrow road, so I'm hoping there are still a number of traditional rally courses.

                  Further, driving through puddles and water is a lot of fun. I really wish all weather could be accounted for, but the water is cool regardless. Baby steps. And of course, the graphics are superb.

                  I'll be buying this some time when I can afford it. It's Number two on my list behind NBA.

                    IGN UK Review - 9.0

                    DiRT 2’s got character – admittedly it’s one that’s over loud and a little obnoxious – but, as an antidote to the buttoned down brigade of driving games that are on the horizon, it’s more than welcome. Even those who might sniff at the game’s focus on the extreme end of off-road motorsport will find it hard to scoff at its rewarding handling model, its sense of atmosphere and its sumptuous visuals, all of which help make it a highlight of the Colin McRae series.
                    IGN Review - 8.4

                    Dirt 2 is prettier than its predecessor, has more varied tracks and a functional multiplayer offering. What it doesn’t have is a focus on pure time-trial rally races, which is really what I expect from a rally game. The other disciplines are fun to dabble in, but I’m old school and want a bit more tradition from a racing game. Dirt 2 is a solid racing game with some really fun events and a slick menu system, but it could use a little less of the arcade action and a bit more of the sim. I think the vast majority of racing fans are going to love what Dirt 2 has to offer, but there will be a few who long for the days when a hill climb was considered the ultimate racing experience.

                      I have the 360 wheel and it works perfect and they have the same options so you can tweak the settings to your liking.

                        With that in mind, it does seem strange, then, that a few features present in previous Colin McRae games are conspicuous by their absence. Varying weather conditions, for example, don't figure at all, with not a single drop of rain or flake of snow to disrupt visibility or track conditions. And although certain tracks (such as those in Malaysia) feature evidence of wet weather, Codies has made no attempt to implement track deformation. In addition, although the damage modelling effects have reached new levels of realism, the removal of the need to repair your ride between races results in a much more reckless approach to driving, knowing full well that not only does the damage have zero effect on your chances of winning a race, but that none of this damage will carry on to the next race. In this case, DiRT 2's accessibility is taken to an unwelcome extreme.

                        The trucks and buggies don't measure up in the same way. They're easy to lose control of, especially with the generous bump of a competitor. This creates a curious dichotomy as any events featuring rally cars (including wheel-to-wheel Rally Cross races) seems to have an element of technical finesse while the bigger vehicles offer more of an arcade style.

                        For the most part, Career Mode is well-executed, offering the right balance of challenge and a good variety in locations and tracks. ButI must admit that I am one of the previously mentioned rally fans who expects a rally game to have, well, rally racing. Sadly, only about 20% of the events in Dirt 2 are pure time-trial rally races.

                        That and the demo was enough to unsell me. I'll hold out for Blur, NFS, Forza 3 and MXvATV amd see what they have to offer.

                          Dang, can anyone share with me what other options there may be on the 360 for a true simulation rally experience? The kind with point-to-point trials and whatnot?

                            I enjoyed the demo, but I've never played DiRt before. After watching the IGN review, I think I'll wait and buy/try Need for Speed: SHIFT. Anyone got any good details or anything on NFS:S?

                              Oh we're using this for the reviews too?

                              Gamesradar review 9:

                              The quality is so high, you'll wonder how your console is doing this at all, let alone so seamlessly. A racing classic that does Colin McRae's memory justice.

                              You'll love

                              * Incredible attention to detail
                              * Presentation is second to none
                              * It's like GRID only off-road

                              You'll hate

                              * Going back to the trailer. Again.
                              * Some events are less fun than others
                              * No split-screen multiplayer

                              Teamxbox review:

                              Don't be deterred by the subject matter if you think you don't like racing games. Dirt 2 is charming, fun and exciting all rolled up into one big ball. A lot of times when we review games here at TeamXbox, we don't really end up playing them all that much after the review is done—even the good ones. But Dirt 2 is one of those games I can pick up at any time and still have a great time. And that simple designation is the best recommendation I can possibly give a game.

                              Gameplay 9.0
                              Very compelling for a racing game; you'll feel completely invested in your career both online and off.

                              Graphics 9.6
                              Beautiful, naturalistic settings, and it runs really smoothly to boot.

                              Audio 9.4
                              The voiceover is great, and the car and environmental sounds are topnotch as well.

                              Longevity 9.3
                              The single-player portion alone will take a good long while to get through, and there's plenty of achievements to work towards.

                              Innovation 9.0
                              It's still just a racing game, after all; but its campaign mode is fresh and the in-game achievements are fun.

                              Overall 9.2

                                The serious lack of true 'point to point' rally racing is a deal breaker for me. As is, its just another racing game.
