Forza 3, Dirt 2, NFS Shift Comparisons

For those that have played any of these games can we get a comparison between these games and what one does better over the other.

    Thanks in advance.

The only thing you can compare Forza 3 to is the king of all racers Gran Turismo 5.

Why post here if you can not add sensible knowledge for the OS community?

Well when Forza 3 comes out we can come back to this thread. A demo is just that a demo....

You're looking for an Apples to Oranges comparison here, and one game isn't even out yet. What are you expecting?

Between Shift and Dirt 2 (the only 2 at retail as of this time), Shift is a balance between arcade and sim handling, but the cars are somewhat twitchy and "sloppy" feeling to me. It's a fun game with the level progression and tiers and whatnot. It just definitely gets to me sometimes when I go to pass a car and the AI just slams down on me, or how they come to a crawl in some corners at the strangest times, causing me to hit them in the middle of the track (and giving me "Dirty Overtake" points). Shift is a fun game, but the more I play it, the more little things grate on me.

As for Dirt 2, it's like night and day with Shift. You're racing on (mostly) Dirt, have a wide variety of events--rallies, trailblazers, Raids, Land Rush, Rally Cross, etc--in a bunch of different vehicle classes. It doesn't have the upgrade system like Shift, so you're pretty much locked in to picking a vehicle and a livery as far as customization goes, but the handling and racing of Dirt 2 surpassed Shift's fun factor for me personally.

If I had to choose between 1 of the 2, I'd choose Dirt 2. As for Forza 3, I can't say anything based off of a demo.

I know Forza is not out, but the others are and that is why I asked about the differences between the games. What seperates them?

It's like you read the first sentence or two and then not the rest. If you can't draw a conclusion as to what separates them, then I don't know what else to tell you.

Racing on dirt and racing on a paved surface is completely different. You can not compare the two. It would be like comparing hockey to soccer.

Yeah, there is no comparison - soccer wins

I am not asking for a vs of the car games, just what experiences they offer. And yes you can compare them to each other. They do not offer the exact same experiences.Right?

OP: What are you looking for in a racing game as you can't even compare the three games (demo included)?

If you are looking for sim: Most likely Forza 3.

If you are looking for speed / arcade with a touch of sim: NFS

If you are looking for an off road racer that is sim with a touch of arcade: Dirt 2.

If you are trying to figure out which one would be fun to you: it is a matter of preference. Here you will find some that prefer one over the other while others prefer all three for the different experience. If you are wanting to know which is better..........you might want to rent or watch a bunch of game play movies to see which would be more to your liking.
