So I finally went out and picked up a used copy of Grid. I missed out on a lot of the games that were coming out around that time as I was laid off and couldn't really afford luxuries like new games. The good thing is now I can catch up on some of these games and get them at a good price.
I love the game. The most fun discipline for me has been the demolition races. It seems there are only 2 tracks for it though. I could be wrong. I'm early in the career mode so maybe I'll see some more later. Either way, I was wondering if there are other games that do this kind of mode and do it well. I used to go to figure-8 races as a kid (Riverside Park in Agawam, MA for anybody in the know). This part of the game really captures my memories of those days. Everything from the over the top PA announcer to the cars that handle like dogs and slide around the track always seemingly ready to go out of control.
I'm not talking about Burnout, I have that and enjoy it for what it is. I'm thinking of a game that takes the whole demolition derby/figure 8 type of idea and really runs with it. The first Destruction Derby on PS1 was always a favorite of mine..the sequels never lived up to it IMHO. Since I'm not generally a big racing gamer I may have missed out on some good titles that incorporate this theme.
