    General rule, of course there is a variation in the setting.

    Supercross = stiff. Stiff compression rates on a real supercross track with sand sections can be difficult to handle- do not know how suspension handles in the game tracks.

    Nationals = soft

      Re: MX vs. ATV Reflex

      this game released the same day I left the country for 6 weeks so i had no idea it was out. Came back to the states and bought this after trying the demo.

      This game has officially restored my faith in racing games. Just an awesome awesome experience. This is what motorstorm should have been like.

      NO CATCH-UP A.I, so if you dominate from start to finish you will finish singificantly faster.

      The racing is just so intense and very technical. One big mistake and it can mean you're out of the race for good. The music fits the bill and i do not like heavy metal at all, but it gets your adrenaline going. There are so many turns and twists in the tracks that you need to memorize to have chance to win races on the hardest diff.

      track deformation is no gimmick, it can definitely affect the outcome of a race. The reflex weight transfer thing also is a great gameplay touch.

      The only drawback about the game is that the vehicles outside of the MXs and ATVs are absolute crap. That's why i wished Motorstorm got rid of the catch up A.I in the offline portion of the game. They really nailed all the vehicles . Anyways....

      I probably had the best single race in my life just today. 3 lap race in one of the nationals on the hardest difficulty.

      started out slow because i crashed on a jump, but was making great time and after 2 laps i was 4th. The 3rd lap I got into 2nd place halfway thru the lap. Then it was just a struggle with the number one guy, i overtook him, he overtook me, he made mistake i made a mistake. Final turn i finally took 1st and i could see the finish line and one more little jump i usually make in my sleep. Didn't land cleanly , lost speed, but I thought I had enough to hold on.

      Turns out, the cpu rider beat me out by 0.03 seconds. PHOTO FINISH!

      just a great race, and a great game.

      i really wish more arcade-sim games like this get rid of the comeback, catch-up A.I. makes things much better.

        Nice post Philly. I'm still enjoying the hell out of this game. I can only hope that the next MX game offer us real tracks, bikes, and pro riders and a single player franchise type mode where you can compete in multiple seasons to try and earn the #1 plate in both AMA Supercross and Outdoor Nationals.

              So now that this game is backward compatible on the X1 I decided to dust it off and fire it back up. To my surprise the graphics hold up nicely, looks very good on the X1X , I'm sure it looks the same on the standard X1 or X1S.

              I wanted to do some Supercross racing to get myself in that mode for the release of Monster Energy Supercross the official game out of the 2/13 and man this game is still quite good. I always liked the tracks in this game and I'm really enjoying it again. If you still have it load it up on your X1 and take it for a spin, in my opinion this was the last good Mx vs ATV game made. All that followed have been huge disappointments. I don't know what happened at Rainbow Studios but some key personnel must have left after this game released because Alive and Encore are not in the same league.

                Rainbow's last game was Alive. Rainbow's staff if I remember was cut in half after the release of Reflex. (THQ was going under) THQ;s IPs was bought by Nordic who made everything after Alive and is making the new MX vs ATV game as well. I believe there are a few Rainbow hold outs on the team, but not many.

                I agree that Reflex holds up well as a pick up and play game, although I'm in the minority, as I enjoyed Alive more - but that might've been because it's physics suited my play style more haha.
