I'm pretty sure I'll be getting it, although if I'm smart I'll rent it first. I'm really looking for it to be GT3 quality since PGR was good, but just not at the same level IMO.

I've heard rumors that it'll be online, anyone know if this is true or not?

Maybe, I'll probably either get CM 3 or Sega GT. I'm not big on racing games though.

I rent 'em a lot, but usually thats it.

Yep, you play as a kid named Ryan McKane, who's dad was killed prior to the start of the game...supposedly you try to do all this "getting out from under dad's shadow", etc.

Idea was not too bad (but it IS a racing game...if I wanted an RPG I'd play an RPG), but from the movies I've seen so far, it doesn't look like something that would really appeal to me. Too much GT-style banging and careening off of walls to really look good in my opinion.

There aren't any car games out (TRUE car games).

I have to settle for rallisport and motogp. My brother whines because he is a PS2/GT3 fan. Maybe when I get this he will appreciate xbox more.

Whoa... has anyone watched the 7 new Sega GT 2002 movies posted in the media page over at IGN? I can't stand the "CarPG" concept of this game, but I may have to tolerate it in order to play this one. This game is starting to look incredible. Decisions decisions...

The meaning of \"CarPG\"

"CarPG" is a generic term that's used to describe racing and driving games which follow a format similar to what is done in RPGs -- with the only difference being that cars are used instead of characters. I'm going to make a separate post in detail about this subject since it may be something worth discussing in its own right.
