    Going to Pocono Sunday!

I hope the weather is good. I've never been to a race there, how is it, if anyone here has been? I've only been to the Rock and Charlotte.

Man, that was the absolute best!!! Hanging with the mobile trailer park community in the infield, was classic. I'm usually the only brotha when I hit a track back home (Charlotte or the Rock), but I saw more than a few in Pocono. The people were very friendly and cordial, and they kinda looked at me like a novice, but once they saw I knew my stuff, they kinda looked like they were impressed and surprised. "Tony's gonna catch Burton in about 5 laps, he's got the fastest car, it looks like. Once he passes Newman, it's all over for Jeff."

Getting into and out of Pocono can be a royal pain in the arse. We wound up leaving with like 80 laps to go anyway because my friend had to be back to pick up her kids by 8:00. If we stayed till the end, there was no way we'd be even out of the Pocono area till 8:00. But it was very cool, and since she's a novice, it was fun converting a new one to our sport.

Everywhere Junior goes, he is the MAN! They cheered him for his pit stops, everything. When we were walking through the infield area back to my friend's car, there was this huge roar from the crowd. My friend was like, "What was that for?" I looked over at the standings by the tunnel turn, and I saw that Junior had moved into second behind Michael Waltrip. I showed her that, and she was like "Ohhhhh." I knew Junior was big in the Carolinas and Daytona, but I didn't really think he was THAT popular up here. I guess by extension he owns New York then, since it's like a two-hour drive from New York to Pocono Raceway.

That track just looks so darn big on TV. I can't imagine seeing it in person.
                Glad you had fun.

As far as the race goes, I think MW let Junior pass him at the end which makes me hate the whole team concept in NASCAR even more. If you are both on the same lap, there is no way you should let another car just go by, espec with 5 to go.

That track is humoungous, man, you have no idea... Fortunately, we were sitting near the top, which is the place to be at Pocono, because you can see the cars go around say 3/4 of the track. Plus, everyone stands, so that limits visibility.

The fans are relentless, dude. Jeremy Mayfield got caught up in an accident, I think with Mark Martin it was, and the right front was all messed up. They fixed it on pit road, but they were gonna back it into the garage to finish working on the car. So Mayfield backs up, then when he gets to the garage entrance, he goes into first gear, and the right front tire just breaks off. Man, did they give him heck in the stands! I was dying.

I sat behind a brotha at Talladega in April. We had a great time because we were about the only two Jeff Gordon fans in our section. We were giving the Jr. fans hell, up until he won the race.
