Anyone have a PS3 racing wheel?

If so, which one, and how is it?

I've been looking with GT5 and F1 games coming up and it seems like Logitech has the only options.

There's a cheap one that I wouldn't even consider (no pedals), then the GT which looks good, and the G27 which looks great, but much too expensive. Are there any others I might have missed?

Driving force pro GT is what I have. I've seen G25 users who went to the G27 come back. The wheel I have should meet all your expectations outside of the pedals (no clutch, plastic). The pedals wont slide on the carpet with the grip strip on the underside. Wheel does make noise but its not obnoxious. The feel of the wheel I like for both shifter styles (stick vs paddles) and you have a ton of buttons to map things to(atleast 15 by a quick headcount).

Force feedback is both strong and gives you a sense of feeling light when getting loose.

If you have anymore questions I can tell you about it, logged many hours in with it while racing iracing.

The Driving Force Pro GT is what I've seen the most of. It's kinda expensive at $130-$150, but anything I've seen for less seems weak. Better to spend the extra on something that's precise and will last.

It doesn't seem like the GT has actual paddles tho, is that right? It looks like it has a couple buttons on the wheel instead. Do they work well or is the shifter better?

How is the precision of the steering, and how big a dead zone does it have? It seems with a 900deg turning radius it should be pretty precise (something I'd be worried about with the upcoming F1 game) but I'm always worried about wheels having large dead zones.

And the pedals look kinda cheap, had any problems with them? How stiff are they and is there a difference between the gas and brake? I used to use a squash ball with the brake on my last wheel, is something like this possible or are the pedals entirely enclosed.

        Thanks!

Paddles are buttons but they function well. I use them with road courses and the shifter for ovals and never had a problem with a response, shifting mid-corner isn't a problem. The buttons aren't stiff or clunky, that also goes for the d-pad, playstation buttons, etc. The cool thing I really, really like is the red dial which lets you adjust something like brake bias (I used it with a certain car in iRacing)

No deadzones, most games give you an adjustment now if you do notice it. The G25 series has/had a deadzone but I'm not 100% familiar with it as I've never personally used it. I've talked to a few guys that prefer the G25 pedals with the DFGT wheel, I'm not sure if thats possible as it wasn't back when I got the wheel

The pedals work fine, a racer for the top series of iRacing who I believe is 2nd in the series uses the wheel/pedal and he's only 2nd because he's racing up against a freak of nature that hasnt lost a round- this series winner gets $10k so they're fairly serious. The brake has more resistance than the gas pedal, its decent imo. I folded a sponge and taped it with electrical tape to add more feeling. I havent had a problem with input or precision.

I know theres been places online that have sold it for around $100, I think gamestop did it at one point? I personally wouldn't get it used.

Thanks avrbas, I appreciate it. It looked like the best option for my price range and your comments give a nice insight. I'll prolly pick one up when the time comes, which is a good excuse to try and wait and see if someplace has a sale.

Also good to know there's enough with the pedals to tape something there...I like a very stiff brake, so it seems I can at least do that if needed.

Good to wait as Best Buy usually has periodic sales on the GT, got mine for 89.99 last year. And that extended 3 year warranty they offer that is usually a waste of money is not a bad idea as it can get abused pretty good and your friends who use it will tend too slam on the pedals pretty hard because it's not thiers. Just something to think about if you can get it for less than $100.

Driving Force GT here. Best bang for buck I've spent. I like it so much I just started using it on my PC as my wheel for iRacing and rFactor.

DFGT here as well, the materials can feel "cheap" to some users but for less than $150, it is a great bang for the buck. Unless if you have more than 300 bucks for a fanatic wheel or low to mid 200s for a G25/27.. you can't go wrong with a DFGT.

Didn't want to start a new thread for this so I figured I'd ask here.

Does anybody have the Microsoft wheel for the 360? I just wanted to know if it's a good wheel or not. I've heard its constructed pretty solidly but I don't really know anything about gameplay with it. I want to get one soon, but I won't if it's garbage. And I'd rather not spend $350 on a fanatec wheel.

Spend the 350 on the Fanatec, trust me. M$ WOULD be a decent wheel but it has some SERIOUS design flaws and lacks a clutch and stick shift option. It's not a matter IF the paddle shifters on the M$ wheel will give out on you but WHEN. I still have one practically new in the box but I just gave up on it (my 2nd M$ wheel by the way) and got the Fanatec. I could tell it was just a matter of time before the shifter was going to give out on me again.

I just read that MS is discontinuing their wheel.

I was afraid of that. I guess I'll be throwin down the big bucks and gettin the fanatec sometime. I just hope its worth the 350.

Well I hope that doesn't mean that they will stop making games that are compatible with the wheel

It's worth it to me. Infact I sprung for the Ultimate Edition package which replaces the standard pedals and includes the Clubsport Pedals. They are GREAT, but you have to buy the shifters separately.

I think this is where the Kinect thing comes in. Also Madcatz is coming out with a 150 racing wheel which may or may not be better quality than the M$ but still no clutch.
