IGN UK - First F1 Review

Codemasters' F1 2010 fills a yearning chasm, and it jumps its first hurdle brilliantly; this is as visceral a take on the art of threading 600bhp through less than half a tonnes' worth of steel, carbon fibre and rubber as a console's ever seen. Driving these things is every bit as joyous as it should be, and the cars manage to nail the perfect blend of being predictable yet terrifying; bulls-eying apexes is an easy enough exercise thanks to the pounds of downforce generated by the car's wings, but braking and acceleration can prove delightfully skittish as they threaten to spear themselves into the nearest wall – and any worries that the arcade bent of DiRT and GRID would make its way to F1 2010 are extinguished in one run.

I'm off to pre-order. Don't trust that the retailers are going to have much of this one on release day - heck, I bet most US retailers would send me to the phone department if I walked in Tuesday and asked if they had the new F1.

I've pre-ordered here in Australia. The dude at the counter said the pre-order sales are insane nationally. Good news for passionate F1 fans like myself. It sounds like we are at the tip of the iceberg with this title, a title that will get better and better each year.

That review could have been written by someone who watched the media preview videos! C'mon, 1.5 pages of nothing!

Oh well, hopefully the insidesimracing guys come through with more info.

While the review was lacking a bit, it did touch upon some very important things. It talked about how fun and realistic the driving was on the track. The whole mundaness of the pressbox/paddock interviews are not a concern to me. The only concern I have or small letdown is the damage model seems to be lacking.

Day 1 purchase for sure though!!

I'm no judge but that review was packing fudge.

I'm still getting this game first day though. Might try to see if I can find it early. Got a new spot I gotta check out since it seems my old spot dried up.

            You in UK random?

It's a shame no one (that I know of) releases games early over here in Australia.

I don't follow F1 at all, but I've reserved my copy.

I love great racing games, and I'm attracted to F1 by it's devs/pedigree, as well as the team-aspect of F1 and the 'driver experience' of going through the weekend.

I'll probably be using a lot of assists LOL....I'll wean off them as I improve if it's too easy. I don't know the circuits or F1 car tendencies well and need to learn as I go.

My most anticipated game of the year by a long shot. Did I read the review correctly in that there will be no "Season mode"? I hope that I misunderstood something.

Still buying on day 1 regardless but I hope that is not true.

Looks good, I have mine pre-ordered as well. I'm a little surprised at the "no telemetry" comment though.
