    F1 2010 vs F1: Championship Edition (PS3)?

Just wondering, aside from the fact that F1:CE is the 2006 season and tracks/teams, how do they stack up in your opinion? What do you like from each?

BTW, I do own both myself (F1 2010 on 360, and F1:CE)....just wondering what you all think as I'm certainly no F1 specialist and haven't logged much time yet on either title (but enjoy both).

    For me:

    F1 2010:
I love the whole sense of really being a part of the team, the level of interactivity with the trailer setup, the press interviews, and the garage actually being..a garage LOL I like that you get SOME interaction there with the tires selection, the engineer, the race computer, etc. And even being able to drive out of the garage. Great stuff.

The racing is sublime so far....I run 20% races on career mode, with brake assist off, traction control on medium. I'm not very good yet, but I love seeing myself improve as I run the laps, learn how not to spin or run off the course, etc. LOL. The graphics are fantastic, I need to try a 'wet' race and check out the weather effects; I've only had to run in sun or cloudy days, but no rain as of yet.

I like that you can watch full replays of the race instead of partials too.

    F1:CE:

I'm not too keen on the PS3's dual-stick arrangement for steering, throttle and brake, but I can adapt. It's still not as precise for me in brake/accel as the 360's triggers, but the steering seems a touch better. Also, the racing line doesn't seem quite as dynamic as in F1 2010?

I do get a kick out of running a 'parade' lap to warm up the tires and have one more look at the track before going to speed.

I don't feel quite as 'connected' to the game as I do to 2010 because of the more clinical menus and structure, but it's still good fun. Just not as engaging and addictive to me (so far).

I do LOVE the replays on F1:CE though....they actually top 2010's for tv-style presentation and are VERY smooth. But they don't do the whole race, and you cannot view one post-race, only IN-race...or after a time trial.

Just your thoughts on the games....I'm not trying to incite a flame war here, guys! I know F1 2010 has become a very 'hot' topic due to some issues, but take what you like about both of these next-gen F1 games and post here if you have both or have played both.

What stopped F1CE from being a classic was its car control it just wasnt were it needed to be with a wheel, a small delay in the control for an F1 car at those speeds and with the precision lines needed i just couldnt hang.

F12010 on the other hand absolutely nails the car control, it may even be a tad easy but what it does is it allows you to just concentrate on your lines and breaking points and just go have a good go at your competitors.
Its an incredible experience on the track, i know its being dampened by some things but all in all this game just screams give it another go to me.

Love F1 and this is the best racing game about it since GP3/4 the ai is still untouched in those games but F1 2010's is up there.

      Ya, Jimmy nailed it.

I really liked F1:CE but you had to fight the driving model too much. F1:2010 you can focus on driving lines and trying to pick off the driver ahead of you.

F1 is also just fun. F1 felt a lot like work.

        Great posts guys, thanks!

I have to agree on the driving model, but for me it's also a difference in the controllers. I always prefer the 360 controller in general. The PS3 dual-stick setup can get squirrely, especially like you said, in F1 you NEED precise control, no lag or weirdness or you're off the track.

F1 2010 is amazingly intense. I don't even DARE blink when I'm turning laps! My concentration level has NEVER been this intense with any game. I don't feel I have to concentrate QUITE so hard on F1: CE.

I don't know...F1 2010 just feels more like you're on the road in one of these machines, F1 CE a bit more like a simulator.

Why use the dual stick control in F1:CE when you can use the triggers and have it control perfectly? I probably put 100 hours into F1:CE and never had an issue with car control. That game was absolutely awesome....what memories.

Jeez, that's on me. Thanks for bringing that up, I never even thought to go into the menus and see if I could set it up the gas/brake on the triggers (though they aren't as good as the 360 triggers). That's definitely worth a go.

Yep, embarrassed LOL. Thanks again I'll try that tonight.

I did play F1 2010 for another hour last night, turning laps at Melbourne (both dry and in rain, wheeee!) and tried Monaco...ho boy....that one's a BEAST.

            fantasysportsguy...you don't have F1:CE any more huh?

No I have it, but haven't played it in probably 2+ years. Fantastic game though.

I just busted this out some this weekend and although it is dated somewhat, due to it being the 2006 season, the overall game itself is just more polished, and in my opinion, is still the better title. I'm probably in the minority there, but it's a fantastic game and if any of you guys are feeling frustrated with 2010, and you have a PS3, go on ebay and pick it up for $20 or so and you'll get your fix.

I'm spending more time with F1 2010, as my main F1 game, but I am also giving the love to F1:CE too for a changeup and the good things it offers. I'm not able to steer quite as precisely with the PS3 stick, which has always been less positive than the 360's to me...but using the trigger arrangement for gas/brake sure helps, so thanks for that mention, fantasy!

Man, if only F1:CE had longer replays The angles and replay presentation are awesome, but it's so short.
