    Newb PC racer questions...

Alright guys, finally just got a decent pc for a steal from a buddy I work with. Or atleast I think it's a steal...maybe wrong lol.

    Here are my specs:
    AMD Athlon(tm) 64 X2 Dual Core Processor 5400+
    Memory (RAM): 4.00 GB
    Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Gaming graphics: 2303 MB Total available graphics memory

Got all this for $175...technically needs a new graphics card as he just currently has a fan zip corded around the graphics card...but it still works for time being. Also just bought a hardly used Momo for $30 from a guy at work. Want a G25 or G27 but can't afford it right now.

So I'm looking to get back into the PC sim racing games. But now, I'm at a complete loss as to what to buy. I've had NR2003 for ever and just recently installed it. Was just wondering if that's still the best sim racing game out there or is there something better?

Tried iRacing for the $5 trial option but don't care that you have to then buy everything else and you never get to keep it. Saw that there is a Arca Sim Racing 08 game out but saw that they were coming out with a 10 by end of year, so didn't know if it was worth spending $50 for 08.

So I guess my question...Will this pc play the new games at max graphics? And second, what game would you guys recommend I pick up?

    Re: Newb PC racer questions...

Wow, where to start... NR2003 is definitely a keeper! I would also suggest the following..

    1. GTR2 by SimBin
    2. Race '07 (Evolution pack)
    3. rFactor ($19.99 online somewhere)

You'll find tons of mods at www.nogripracing.com (start there).

You may want to try this site to see how your system will perform with other games. http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/cyri/

Your MOMO wheel will be just fine for the racing with moderate driving aids. Be prepared for a handful if you decide to go hardcore with it though.

    Good luck, dude!
