    Re: iRacing after 2+ years

Just had a blast in NiS at Dover. Definitely made up for my horrid NiS races.

Started 5th and ended up 4th, which is all I could have asked for based on speed. Had four cautions in the first 40 or so laps and I thought it was going to be one of those races, but then we somehow managed a 120 lap green flag run that included green flag stops.

Had an interesting few laps during the long green run as the guy in front of me was warping badly and at points completely disappeared for a lap or two. Thankfully I didn't get any damage or have any issues before his connection finally dropped.

Will upload the race at some point, but I need to cut the beginning out as I seem to have recorded all of the pre-race practice as well.

EDIT: Just realized I went over 2900 iRating thanks to this race. Up to 2910. First time I've been above 2900 so yay me.

As far as slowing down for corners and stuff, I find the sensation of speed is easier to gauge but looking in the distance is a little bit harder due to the low resolution of the DK2.

It's a lot harder to just whip into practice and find your track markers at speed. You really have to take some slow laps around the track and look at what you will use for markers and take in the track that way.

Like I said it is a much better experience in my mind and I won't be going back to monitors anytime soon.

Congrats. It is always a good feeling to set a personal best.

I ran another GT3 race last night. I was the #1 car in the lower split. I qualified 6th I think and had a nice race. I had 0 incidents for the 40 minute race and I came in 5th for the pitstop cycle and ended up coming out 3rd after everyone pitted. I kept it clean and got my first podium in a GT3 race. Keep in mind I am using the default setup still. I really need to learn how to tune the setup for the Ford GT. I think I am going to get iAnalyze Racing since I feel it will be really useful for the Ford GT since there is almost no one who post setups for it.

Hi guys, I am pretty new to Iracing and sim racing in general. I bought the 3 month trial of Iracing and I am hooked! I am now in the process of building a gaming computer.

Which parts would you guys suggest for a new pc build for Iracing and probably a little FPS action? Should I go triple 24" 1080p monitors or a single 27" 1440p monitor?

I saw a few people saying that a triple monitor setup is one of the best upgrades you can make, even before getting a high end wheel/pedal combo. What do you guys think?

If you can get 144hz monitors, I would do that.

I would go with a set of pedals. CSR Elites are a good set. If you have any interest in VR, I have the Oculus Rift DK2, wait for the CV1 because it will probably be cheaper than triple monitors.

                    Welcome to the club.

I've got a 32" 1440p monitor that I love, as well as Thurstmaster T300RS wheel and Fanatec CSR Elite pedals that I recently picked up after using a DFGT for years. Given my current monitor, I can't imagine trading those for triple monitors. That said, I am an oval only guy for the most part and triples might be a bigger deal if you're into road racing so you can see the apexes easier.

What wheel and pedals are you using now?

The retail version isn't out yet. There are some small issues with the developer's kit but it is so much more immersive than triple screens that I can't go back even with it's issues.

Thanks man, I actually have triple 1080p monitors on the way to me as we speak. Trying to figure out which parts I wanna put in my new PC. I originally bought a premade desktop computer, but returned it and decided to build my own.

I picked up a used G27 wheel, pedals and shifter. From what I read it seemed like people think it's a decent entry level setup. I am going to be mainly an oval guy as well.

Yeah, you can't really go wrong with the G27. There seem to be quite a few mods you can do to the brake pedal to improve the feel, so once you get comfortable with things, you might take a look at those.

I think I might have been the only one who ran Dover Thursday. Good luck if you do run. I'm currently planning to run Sunday's fixed race, but my right foot is sore from Thursday (My driving position isn't the greatest) so I'm not sure that's going to happen.

And on that note, I finally got my Dover race uploaded. I put a few time stamps in the description so people can skip ahead. First 30 or so minutes of the race weren't all that exciting. Well, most of it probably isn't exciting to watch, but it was fun to drive.

I believe with the G27, you're able to use each part separately so you can just use the wheel with pedal upgrades or a different shifter.

Speaking of wheels, I kind of want the G29 wheel since its a DFGT/G27 hybrid. The red twist dial I still miss from the DFGT which the G27 doesnt have, used to use it for my brake bias

I absolutely love my G27. The only thing I would do would be to get better pedals but I'm not going to do that at the current moment in time cuz I have to break down my stuff every time I'm finished with it being hooked up to the family computer.
