Why couldn't NFS Underground look like that on a console? Rallisport Challenge already has similar lighting effects for the Xbox, and that game is more than a year old.

The car models in NFSU are much better than Rallisport's, but developers also have enjoyed more than a year to learn how to better use console hardware when making games.

I say it's very possible that NFSU could look like that -- especially on the Xbox, which already has seen games with similar lighting effects.

Yeah I think you're forgeting that the best games for a console don't come out until the console is almost obsolete. It takes years for the really amazing games to come out. Case in point remember how good the later PSX games were when compared to the launch titles. It was hard to believe they were the same system. I think we're starting to see this with the ps2 and eventually xbox. It's quite possible this game will just look that damn good. It seems as if we are entering that "golden" period for the ps2 and I think shortly the Xbox will really start to flex it's muscles . Hey don't forget, Genesis hung around with psx for awhile. (though the ps2 and xbox are much closer that those two machines were.)
