    NASCAR 11 Community day questions

    Gentlemen,

As you know, I am heading to the Daytona 500 this year(courtesy of Eutechnyx, Activision, and Sandbox Strategy). We are leaving on February 17th, and will be returning the 23rd. I am going to have extensive time with the game itself, and Ed Martin( Executive Vice President of Eutechnyx).

So I am asking OS to be fully involved with this endeavor, and want some input before I leave. I ask you submit your question below, and I will try to check or ask on as many as possible.

I will have full access to the game itself, Ed Martin, team garages, Richard Petty Driving Experience, drivers meetings and the race itself.

    Thanks,
    Bob

If you need another OS Nascar expert to go and assist you on this adventure I will gladly volunteer my services to you.

On the game though I would like to know when it comes to Talladega and Daytona will there be the 2 car break aways from the draft like in the real world and also if you are the second car in the draft will you have to get out of line every once in a while to let the enginge get some air to cool down like in real world, if you dont will your engine over heat and blow up?

If you can fit into my suitcase...come along bro. I will make sure to try that out, and ask about also. I will try to grab some video of this, and post it when I get back.

That's awesome for you and enjoy the race! Thanks for taking our questions.

I'm curious if there will be any crew chief interaction with the driver. I know with past games I'm driving and selecting pit options. I'd like an auto option so the AI crew chief makes the decisions. I have the opportunity to suggest pit options but ultimately it will be his decision. This separates the rookie crew chiefs and guys like Chad Knaus. This could also effect chemistry between crew chief, driver and pit crews.

Will there be mistakes on pit road that is out of the driver's hands? A lug nut being dropped, a tire rolling away from a crew member, an air hose issue just a few examples

Does the game have repairs where the car needs to be taken in the garage? Will there be repairs that can be done on pit road? (tape, baseball bat, hammer)

Will the crowd react if certain drivers take the lead? #88 question Will the crowd boo a certain driver? #18 question Do the drivers celebrate like they do in real life? I'd like to see a create celebration for a created driver. Something similar to how the WWE games implement create a move in future installments possibly.

I'm sure this will be asked by someone else but will the new points system be available and if so will the old points system be available to run the 2010 season.

Please let Ed Martin know there is a market for this game on the pc. Thanks!

Some good questions in there, and will try my best to get answers to all of them. Trust me, when I say Ed completely understands that the market is there for a pc version. They have the rights for it...........but we will have to take a wait and see type of apporach.

Man, I'm jealous. Have fun at the 500.

Will we be able to control our cars on pit road? Are pit stop lengths accurate (in the 13-15 second range)?

Thanks Burgh...got all the travel arrangements done today! These questions should be easy to answer, so I will find out the answers for each.

Re: NASCAR 11 Community day questions

Say instead of racing 100% of the race, we decide to race 50%, will we able to set tire wear/pit stops to occur twice as fast so that we can have realistic number of stops, while not having to race the entire race?

In previous games, the cpu has handled pit strategy/cautions poorly. Can you please pay attention to how the AI handles these situations? Makes smart calls.

Will the cpu wreck itself? Can they have car troubles(blown engine, drop cylinder, cut tire, etc)

Can the user have the car troubles I just mentioned.

                  Does day/night transistion effect the track(ie: Coca-Cola 600 track day = slick / track night = tight)

Will they be using the new points system?

Will the cpu "pace" itself during a race? What I mean is that in previous games, the cpu has always been aggressive and rarely would sit back and "draft race".
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: NASCAR 11 Community day questions

I hope you have a great time at Daytona, I have always wanted to go.

My question is will we be able to control our cars under caution and will we be able to drive the whole caution period until the green comes out again.

I hated the in past games that when the catuion flag waved the computer took over and it controlled the pit and the car until the green came out again.

I would like to be able to control my car the whole time and use the time to cool down and plan, maybe even fake to the pits in multi-player.

I think that some of these have already been answered on the games forum site; http://forums.eutechnyx.com/forums/1...-The-Game-2011. I think that I can answer some of these for you though:

                      1. I cannot remember where I read it, but I do remember reading that you can adjust the wear for the amount of race you would like to run

                      2. A.I. cars will wreck, although as Eutechnyx put it, "due to licensor restrictions" there will not be any blown engines for the player or CPU.

                      3. They originally had it set up for day night transitions to effect the track, but unfortantely that will not make it into their first installment of the game.

                      4. The new points sytem looks like it will be part of the free DLC that comes out with the game, but it has not been confirmed yet.

                      5. I think there are some threads about the A.I. on the site, but I am not 100%

                        1. This will sound lazy, as I don't have a specific question, but I'd like to know more about career/franchise mode. Find out all you can about it, please!

                        2. Will there be a Paint Booth feature like the one in NASCAR 09 where you could download a template and then use Photoshop or another painting program to create truly custom cars?

No problem about the general question. I will do my best to find out as much info as possible on the career mode. I will also check out what type create-a-car booth they have. If they will allow it, I will try and grab some photos or video of it, to upload when I get back!
