Re: NASCAR The Game 2011 Q&A and Impressions

That's the thing...I've alternated between having a great deal of love and a great amount of hatred for the game, in almost even amounts.

I think you can have a lot of fun in short sprint races where you don't have to worry about pit strategy and cautions, but that's a huge portion of NASCAR racing to take out of the equation.

I'm glad I'm not reviewing this one. I'd really be in a tough spot

I would sum it up like this:

In its current state, it's not worth a purchase for anybody wanting anything other than a quick, short race against AI cars that can be fun to race, but sometimes a little overaggressive.

      HOWEVER...

I haven't seen a development team so actively involved with communicating to their audience their intentions and desire for ALL feedback (not just the good stuff). I, possibly naively, think that they can actually sort some of the horrendous stuff out--like yellow flags and pit AI. That's the stuff that usually takes the most tweaking to fix, and it's actually fixable. It's not like it would take a complete re-write of the AI to make the game driveable. It's actually very good at RACING, but not good at the ancillary stuff around the racing environment.

So I would say if you're looking for a complete NASCAR experience, hold off for probably a few months and save yourself some aggravation. Check back around June and see what it's become. I'm pretty confident it will become at least a close representation of the sport--but as it stands, it's like a Cliff's Notes version of a NASCAR event.

...but if you are the type that wants a full career mode and stat tracking, avoid it entirely, as that's not something that just suddenly gets patched in.

That right there gives me huge hope. If they actually fix those things and pinpoint the issues with their "investigative" section, this could really turn into a gem. It's an absolute debacle of a launch (which is another issue entirely, I know), but in a few months' time, I may forget all about it if all of those issues are genuinely resolved.

Did they announce when they were going to (or think they're going to) release the patch?

Also, this is my first post, but thanks to Blue and all for reviewing the game early...I was hooked on this thread before the game came out.

I just read the original post on the Nascar the Game forums. What's going to happen is they are going to work on each item one by one and as they are fixed they will update the status at the link below.

Once the items are fixed and the patch is tested, it will then be sent to Microsoft and Sony which could take some additional time till it is available for download.

My guess on a time frame is roughly one month if not a little bit more.

Re: NASCAR The Game 2011 Q&A and Impressions

I wasn't sure if I'd get to customize my character so I picked an exsisting driver.
Tried a 10 lap race in Miami on easy of course. (Equal to golf here)
I won pretty easily even thought I started in 43rd.
                Started career.
                Got pole by 10 seconds.
Actual race? Umm what? I can't win at all. They're passing me without drafting and then making me crash. Then I restart in 2nd and despite drafting can't catch the guy ahead of me. Restarted the race. Same thing. Restarted the whole race again. Same thing. Restarted yet again trying to figure out what the heck is going on and after a crash the game itself crashed after the replay and was stuck on the loading screen. So I turned it off and don't think it'll be going back in the system again.

Re: NASCAR The Game 2011 Q&A and Impressions

                  Hey Guys,

I'm a huge NASCAR fan and will definitely be buying this game. I've read here and other places that the XBOX version has more bugs and problems than the PS3 version.

                  I do own both systems.

                  Two questions.

Is there a list of the differences in the versions and bugs so I can compare the 2 versions?

Also my only wheel is the official Xbox steering wheel so what version do you all recommend for me? Would the better option be to to buy the game for the Xbox with my wheel even though it's more buggy or get the PS3 version to use with the dual shock controller?

Thank you in advance and thank you for all the time and effort and knowledge that everyone here shares.

                  J.

I could be wrong, but I think this is the first time that a developer is giving us a day by day update on the progress of fixing issues. Gives me a lot of hope and credit where it's due to Eutechnyx.

Leaving my copy of the game sealed but hopeful that I won't want to return it once I see some bug fixing. This reminds me a lot of F1 2010 -- when it came out, there was A LOT of criticism but lots of people now think that's a pretty good game. I'm guessing F1 2011 will probably be awesome.

I, for one, am very pleased at the company addressing the issues in a timely manner. That shows great customer service on their behalf and the drive (no pun intended) to better the product.

I was a little disappointed in the bugs and flaws of the game. But I believe if they manage to fix the major issues, this could be a quality NASCAR experience. I am not expecting to be sim like anymore, and just take it for what it is. There is fun to be had with this game, if the problems get resolved.

Thanks for standing by your product!!! The consumers appreciate it.

Their quick feedback is really encouraging. I hope they are able to pinpoint these bugs and take care of them.

I have the game at home waiting to be played. Can't wait to join the fun.

I just bought NASCAR the game 2011 for the ps3 on my hdtv. The game is not terrible, but not very great either! I don't think it's that great a leap from Nascar 09 by EA. The main issue I see is that there are way too many jagged lines making the graphics real poor. I can barely tell which is car is which two car lengths ahead of me! It is not crisp and sharp at all! I am using an powerful hdmi connector and the HDTV displays other games really sharp and well! Does anyone else experience the same issue and if so what can be done?

                                Investigating:
A.I. being overly aggressive when bump drafting the player
A.I. difficulty being too easy when qualifying
A.I. pitting problems causing them to collide in to each other
                                A.I. bunching on certain tracks
A.I. slamming their brakes on for no reason
Hitting the wall often turns the car ending up with the player facing the wrong way"

Euetchnyx is for sure a stand out company. They are not cash cows and they want to make the game as good as possible, this was posted by Dave Thompson on the Eutechnyx forums. With these fixes the game will be great, especially the fact that they are STILL adding this that we want.

Sorry, just realized this was posted a page ago... Face palm on my part..
