    XGRA...

Finally! This is what futuristic racing is SUPPOSED to be! Nice weapons, Great sound(Burnout2 has spoiled me for a custom soundtrack option though) and slick multiple path track layout. Best of all, the career has near sports game franchise mode depth. More impressions coming...

"Futuristic Racing" always makes me want to cringe. Call me old, but if there are guns or powerups in a racing game, I steer as clear as possible, unless it's possible to turn them all off.

Naw man! Don't you remember Wipeout? This game fulfills a different type of need for speed y'know? I love the Nascar series for realism, Burnout2 for fun, Midtown Madness for open city cruising (Sometimes I'll get the pearl Escalade, turn up the custom soundtrack, and take a leisurely nightime cruise around DC. I even obey the traffic devices ) and XGRA for a little diversity and variety. XGRA had me hooked because even though its futuristic its a realistic look at the future. No hovercraft or anything, just these super-bad juiced up mega-bikes. The sounds are really compelling, I think they use real motorcycle audio and pitch it really high like a motorcycle would sound if they could tune an engine to get up to 300+ mph. Add mind-blowing tracks and environments and XGRA is the shizznit.

Wipeout was a great game when I got my PS back in the day. Sadly I haven't been that happy with any recent updates of it. Maybe I just got tired of that genre, I dunno

I enjoyed Wipeout some, but once again, I'm pretty sure you could turn all the guns and crap off, right? If you can turn the weapon powerups off in XGRA, I'll probably give it a peep.

yeah, I know what you mean about weapons, it can be fun at first, but takes a bit of the racing out of it. I haven't played a futuristic racer in years, they were popular for a while, but just died out a bit
