F1 2011: Is the AI affected by tire wear?

I ran my first career race in the rain at Australia. I was in a Williams with the TCS on medium as the only assist. I was in 18th position and started well and was 10th by the end of the 2nd lap. However, I could not maintain position and by lap 8 out of 12 my tires were DONE and I slipped back to 15th. By the 10th lap I could harldy control the car and was passed until I was down in 20th.

I noticed that it seemed like the AI cars were not affected by the tire wear in the rain. Does anyone else know if they are actually affected by wear in the rain?

The AI seems to be freakishly fast in the rain this year. The tire model this year seems to be greatly affected by your setup and driving style..spin the tires, attack the curbs, lock up your brakes...it all kills your tire life. Depending on the AI level you're playing, they'll make less of these mistakes than you will more than likely.

I have other issues with the AI as well, they lack of aggressiveness in passing, very slow starts, and early braking points among a few....

It'll probably be a couple more iterations of this game before we get a really good AI, it's definitely improved from last year though, so it is moving in the correct direction
