question about handling in nascar 11

I'm not a gear head by any means but the other day i pulled nascar 11 down for the first time in months. My problem is my ability to hold any kind of line on the banked ovals. im always sucked down toward the apron then head to the wall coming out or i get clipped in the rear and spun out. The speed doesnt seem to be the problem as i dont accelerate until im at the apex of the curve. That leads me to go slower than the rest of the field and i get passed by most. Any suggestions? Thanks

If your are using a controller and not a wheel that maybe the issue. I always have the same problem and I just chalk it up to using a controller and not being able to hold the thumb joysticks in the same spot on turns. I maybe wrong but would be interested if anyone had any suggestions.
