Who is getting new nascar game?
Just wondering who all is planning on getting the game? Would love to get a group together to compete. I havent played a nascar game in years. But really looking forward to this one. ThanksTags: None -
Re: Who is getting new nascar game?
I'll be Gameflying it. I have the predecessor and like the basic game engine, but there were a number of execution niggles that really hurt the game's staying power. I'll convert my Gamefly rental to a purchase if they've truly rectified the miscues of last year's game.Duke Football? Hell yes it's Duke Football! --- Coach Cutcliffe -
Re: Who is getting new nascar game?
I bought the first one from Eutechnyx. Despite all of its bugs, I did enjoy it. By the sounds of things over at their forums, alot of the major issues have been resolved, and this years edition should be way better. However, where it gets me thinking is that this game was hyped as being an incredible nascar experience first time around, and it just wasnt due to all of the bugs. I just haven't decided yet if I should trust them yet that the major issues are fixed.
With that being said, I'm still stupid and I'll probably buy it when its released. I enjoy racing games.Miami Dolphins - Detroit Red Wings - Toronto Blue Jays - Michigan Wolverines - CANADAComment

Re: Who is getting new nascar game?
I'm planning on getting it but without a pre-order incentive, I'll likely wait for the reviews. I had some fun with 2011 offline but online play was disappointing. I definitely thought that the game played better offline than any of the prior EA releases, but still could use improvement.Comment

Offline, like you said was pretty decent, with the exception of the AI just slamming their brakes for no reason in the corners, and the pack almost always being bunched together, Eutechnyx really laid a great foundation for what could be a very promising series.
If they can nail down tire wear like codemasters has in the F1 series, I'd be really happy. I love that in F1 if I get out of the main racing line, I pick up rubber and debris on my tires and loose some grip. That being said, Nascar is a bit different, so there'd have to be several racing lines with dynamic grip based on how often their run by the player, and the AI. I'm not sure if that's in this year, but it would be really awesome if it was.
Bottom line, last years game offline did impress me enough to consider another try on this one. I'm just not sure yet if it's going to be release day, or a little after when I can read some reviews. Really though, I can't see them releasing something as messed up as last years. The patches helped it alot, so as long as those improvements are in for this year too which I'd assume they would be, the game should be a better experience overall.Miami Dolphins - Detroit Red Wings - Toronto Blue Jays - Michigan Wolverines - CANADAComment

Re: Who is getting new nascar game?
I too am more of an offline gamer on sports games, unless I am racing with a group of friends. I enjoyed the basic car handling physics from last years game, however I just could never get into the game. Offline was just too boring IMO, especially when you could have it set on the hardest setting and yet qualify with no challenge from the AI. The AI checkups on tri-ovals whether it be on the super speedways or other tracks became game breaking for me, you would either get wrecked which would then trigger the human pit problems, or you would pass 10 - 15 cars going into the first turn. Offline became ridiculous with all of the intential crashers out there without any recourse. I also did not like the building of your own car; that is the one area that I thought EA did better, with the paint garage. For me personally, I thought that EA's paint garage was much more user friendly than NTG's. All of that being said, I am excited about the prospect of a new nascar game, especially after more than a year under their belt and a new and improved offline career mode. This probably will not be a first day pick up for me, I will want to read reviews for the first week or two to get an idea of what the game may be like and will make my decision from there. I am dissapointed that this game is coming out at the end of the NASCAR season and not at the beginning, I mean that is like Madden coming out in the middle of January, it just does not make sense even from a sales standpoint. IMO to maximize sales you would want to release the game prior to the peak of fan interest, and while their will be great interest in the final couple of races, the interest has started to dwindle especially for those who's drivers are already out of any title contention.Comment

The release date is odd. Although I was reading on their forums that they don't plan to do a yearly release. So I imagine we'd see DLC in the form of new cars coming for the start of next season.
The new career mode sounds like it has more depth to it, I just hope its enough.
You are dead on on the paint booth though. I found it almost impossible to create a car in that thing. I know some people loved it, and were good at it, but me, personally, I can't be bothered to fight through shifting shapes and stuff to make other shapes, and all that stuff. I'd love to have a paint shop similar to EA's. I thought it was fantastic. You could create schemes on your own, outside of the game, then import them, share them, basically do anything. It was pretty awesome.
One thing that hasnt been said yet though, I'd love to see them expand to covering the nationwide, and truck series' too.Miami Dolphins - Detroit Red Wings - Toronto Blue Jays - Michigan Wolverines - CANADAComment

Re: Who is getting new nascar game?
I haven't been following the details of this game as much as I have in the past due to the disappointing games the last couple of years, but unless the Career Mode is really deep and goes years and years into the future. I miss being able to start at the lowest series (Truck now, Modified in the last game that I really enjoyed which was TTC:06) and work my way up and I know that's nothing to be there.--

Gonna throw out the caution flag on this one..... Maybe down the road but most definately NOT a day 1 purchase. Not going to subject myself to 1st day releases for any game ever again.GT: BIG CAROLINA23

Re: Who is getting new nascar game?
I've been doing a lot of racing with the NASCAR cars in GT5 lately so I'll be checking out the reviews as well. I would really enjoy a deep career mode and creating my own car. Would it be compatible with a G27 wheel?"Robert De Niro would be good. I've heard that's who they want to play me." Claudio Ranieri
