I have no idea, but I would guess it is based on your performance.Comment

WOW. So in an attempt to get a quick Career mode race in at Martinsville before bed, I turned off cautions and damage...crazyness ensued.
Ran the whole race clean no problems until the 2nd to last lap, coming around turn 4. I am the #12 Target car.

Not sure what happened, I barely avoided it by slamming on my breaks and wound up losing the lead and fell to 4th place...then, on the next time around to that same spot...

In the chaos I got spun around...

Knowing I was near the line and had somehow regained the lead I did the only thing I felt I could do without waisting too much time getting turned around...

I never thought I would actually get the "Too Much!" achievement...but amid the insanity, I did...and I will never turn off cautions again, at least on a short/narrow track.Comment

Re: I have the NASCAR The Game: Inside the Line
Nice. That is one thing about the AI is they have no wreck avoidance. If there's a pile up they just pile right into it without even trying to slow down and avoid it.
I actually always race without cautions since I'm not very good at racing clean (I don't think it's really possible with a controller) and if I had them on there'd be way to many especially on the short tracks. Plus, I enjoy the mayhem that ensues as it adds some more challenge in that if you screw up you have to work your way back up and if there's a melee you have to avoid it.
Of course last year one of my complaints was cautions coming out even when cautions were turned off which happened when a car got flipped on it's side or roof or otherwise wrecked in such a way as to not be able to drive away. Well, cautions no longer come out in that situation. Red flags come out instead which is kind of lame as they act just like cautions. In the EA games flipped cars would just disappear and be out of the race or in the garage while in the Papyrus games the car would be disappear from the track and be 'towed' back to the pits. Don't know why Eutechnyx can't implement one of those features.
The other issue I'm having with this game is that I can't find a happy median of difficulty settings. I started out with AI difficulty on medium but was regularly finishing in the top 10 and winning races. Bumped it up to hard and I couldn't keep up with anybody. I also have a difficult time with the braking in the corners and end up hitting the wall quite often, but turning braking assist on actually makes things worse because it slows the car down even further.
The time penalties are also quite annoying on the road courses. I had a very difficult time getting a valid lap in during practice as I would always get penalized. Ran a career race at Sonoma and thought I'd finished 39th but wound up 43rd because I'd racked up 31 seconds in penalties from missing turns and accidentally going into or being spun/wrecked into parts of the track where I wasn't supposed to be.
And speaking of road courses, there are areas on both tracks where apparently if you hit the curb in a certain manner it somehow launches your car straight up into the air.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Re: I have the NASCAR The Game: Inside the Line
Alright guys, its killing me. I've been fighting it since release, and I've thrown in the towel. I can't figure out Vegas. It used to be one of my best tracks, back to the EA days, hell, even the first year for Eutechnyx I still did well on that track, this year, I just cant get it. The default setups... I get blown away... I "bought" the Tony Stewart setup, and its way too loose, like I cant even get through a turn. Im using a controller... no wheel... if anyone has a nice vegas setup, or some help on the line... something, anything, preferably a setup... I just cant figure it out this year. It's got me beat.
Its really strange too. Its like the cars handle differently in of career, and out of it. I just go to single player testing mode, and Im good. Fast actually. I get into career (and I've got my car upgraded all the way to the max) and I can't do a thing. I dont get it, but its frustrating, that's for sure.
Anyone got some help?Miami Dolphins - Detroit Red Wings - Toronto Blue Jays - Michigan Wolverines - CANADAComment

Use the default setup and change the transmission to type B. That will pick you up some time right there. Also practice, try changing your line, try coasting through the corners without braking. The default setups are great this year. Some are a little to tight or to loose, if it is just make some adjustments.Comment

Re: I have the NASCAR The Game: Inside the Line
The graphics are great.. the racing sucks for me.. turned off all steering assist which made me at least not drift up the track much.. but I still can't pass cars.. they speed up and wreck me every damn time. It's the first NASCAR game I can't drive in with cars around because of getting wrecked, and I'm not about to blow money on a steering wheel controller... I passed 10 cars on one turn at phoenix and the last guy I passed takes me out so back to 40th or so position.. won the pole on Daytona and Phoenix so it's not me as much as over-aggro cars.. not even like the ones that draft 30 mph faster at Daytona... just cars out to wreck you
So far.. 7 cautions in 22 laps at Phoenix.. just restarted 10th on the 10th caution.. got passed by 21 cars on the restart.. what a joke.. now 35th since there was yet another yellow..make that 39thLast edited by DHMN69; 12-03-2012, 01:42 AM.View Through My Lens sports photography
