Exactly, Dan. All you can do at Charlotte is ride the high line and try to avoid getting walled on 2 and 4 each lap. That doesn't appear to have changed.

But I haven't tried to see if I can pin a car low yet. I'll try that tonight when I start my career just because I'm masochistic.

Have you tried on different AI LEVELS?

Hard is specifically designed to compete with default setups, so no matter what, they shouldn't come to a standstill using a default setup every lap.

Going lower wouldn't do a thing--it would just get worse. But to answer the question directly, yes...Champion does the exact same thing. You can draft down the backstretch and watch the entire inside line hit the brakes in between Turns 3 and 4. Same coming off of 2 if they don't get it right.

I played a race at Vegas today after the patch... AI was blowing by me on Hard, which to me is normal since I struggle at Vegas (which is why i picked it so I could race in the pack) The racing was very good I thought, other than the AI being overly aggressive, pretending I wasnt on the track running my line, they'd just plow into me regardless which of course... slowed me down, but not them. However... in the tri oval at the start finish line... the inside line would like almost slam the brakes and drop probably at least 15mph...

                Just sad... really really sad...

I had a race afterwards at Michigan though. Very impressive. played with 4x wear... had some green flag stops with no issues. Good racing. So.. I just dont know what to think. some tracks its good, some... its just awful.

Some things never change apparently. I guess these guys are just always going to make games that visually look great, have a good foundation with tons of potential but... at the end of the day... they just dont play very well. They just cant fully deliver. So far what I've seen today from the latest patch... It's just still... still not all there. I dont get it..

Great foundation is right -- this game could be awesome. I still have fun with it because I'm a casual racer but I could see where it would drive some folks crazy. I kinda felt that way about Madden 12 -- I just couldn't get past all of the stuff that was wrong / broken. I don't know if these guys will get a 3rd chance to get it right -- I can't imagine they made a ton of money on this game. But on the other hand, it's getting better. Not sure if developing a new game on the PS4 / Xbox720 platforms will be easier or not for them. If a new one will get developed -- maybe expect it out at the end of 2014 (November -- to take advantage of holiday sales) and to prepare for the 2015 NASCAR season.

Im done, this is trash, take so long for patch and all the troubles??? For this, I hardly see any improvement?? Thank god for F1, at least I have that for sim racing. I highly suggest to anyone looking for fun and sim experience, with solid AI.

I just tried it again. Tried to turn the wheel sensitivity down to 270 so it matched the default MS wheel, and ran a tester at Charlotte again. Cars bunching up, wrecking each other, I can't even slow down unless I hit the brakes on the EXIT of each corner, which is going to kill speed every lap.

So I figured what the hell, I'll head to Kentucky. I race pretty well there, start from the rear of the field in a 26 lapper on 10% with 4x wear. The AI pits on lap 10, which means they're going to 2-stop it on a race you could make it on 1 stop (fuel ran about 14.x laps, and if you stop at 13 you're good). I had already knocked off half the field in 13 laps because they can't come off of 4 worth a damn--hit the brakes on the exit and you sail past 2 or 3 cars each corner if you can time it right to the outside. If you CAN'T, of course, you slam into the rear of them instead.

A merger came up after pits to the outside on the backstretch, I swerved under him, and he did the "wiggle shake" like he saw me, and came DOWN two lanes instead. Slammed into the rear of his car at full speed.

I'm done trying to find a way to have fun with it. I've given it more of a fair shake than most of my simracing buddies have, and I'm finally just throwing in the towel. I agree with the poster above, it's trash unless you are a very casual racer and only drive with a controller--and even then, you better have longer races so the AI doesn't get confused on pit strategy, which pretty much contradicts the whole casual racer part (or not pit at all).

There are moments when I have a blast, followed by 2 or 3 infuriating moments where you want to personally march over to Europe and strangle every one of the developers, one by one.

I get that making a game is hard. Papyrus took about 4 or 5 stabs at NASCAR, and even on NR2003, there were lingering pit issues in the default AI. But this is like taking twenty steps BACK in AI overall, and we're talking about comparing it to an 11 year old game at this point. You think PC's 11 years ago weren't as powerful as the consoles now? I beg to differ.

                      There's really no excuse anymore.

Can't wait to pay $0.99 43 times over for something that can't be used in career or season mode!

For the quality of the game however, and the inability to use them in any useful mode the game offers though, it should have been much, much less than that.

The cars do loo pretty nice though.

I must agree. The pass for this particular game should come in cheaper, especially with the limitations of how you can use the new cars.
