    Anybody looking at getting SRS?

I know the reviews have been low, but if you read the reviews the only real negatives are that its "too realistic" and thereby "boring". It may be a timing thing with this game being released next to Burnout as most reviewers just seemed turned off by the speed of the racing. I mean its got 3 free-roaming cities, tons of cars, tons of customization, cop chases, damage, 60 fps, the list goes on and on and most of the forums are talking like this is a god-send next to all the arcade-style street racing that the big name developers are releasing.

I have a link from one of the developers about some of the features if anyone's interested.
Its funny that all of a sudden all these racing games are upon us.

SRS has always looked decent from the demos and previews I've seen, but given the bajillion other import tuner/street racing games out there (or on their way), I think I'm gonna pass. GT4 will hopefully be enough to satisfy my urge for late night street racing (but without all the pretty girls and stuff ).

Not to get off topic, but does anyone else think that developers have gone a little overboard with the Fast and the Furious-like games? It seems like after that movie came out, publishers and devs have just gone crazy making these things. I'm all for selection and variety, but do we really need:

    NFSU
    NFSU 2
    Midnight Club
    Midnight Club 2
    Midnight Clud: Dub
    Juiced
    SRS
    Auto Modelista
    GT3
    GT4
    L.A. Rush
    Tokyo Extreme Racer(s)
    Burnout 3
    .
    .
    .

And these are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. Of course, I'm probably just in denial and these games will be as common as shooters and rpgs from now on, but anyway...

If it can make a buck lets publish it! But I think when the next type of racing comes into vogue, the imitadors will fade. I think games like GT will always be around cause they are good on their own; they aren't riding on a fad.

I played Tokyo Xtreme back when it came out on the Dreamcast, and I liked the free-roam, pick your rivals gameplay. It was new at the time. NFS:U really pushed the car look customization feature. Burnout 3 is amazing for its crashes and is innovating the 'pure' arcade racer.

They each bring a little something to the table, but I agree, they overlap alot also.
