Re: NC05 How do you get speed
well, i just got my first Cup ride last night and ran Daytona......its a Dodge, #91 Levi Strauss...anyway, its a 1-star ride and it got up to 192 on the backstretch during qualifying, and i finished second to Jeff Gordon in the race, because i was waiting til the final lap to try and pass him and a caution flew and ended the race right then and there with two laps to go.....guess i should make my move earlier next time lolComment

The Nextel cup cars should be able to exceed 190 even with no draft on the largest tracks.
And yes, if you're a villain you won't have many friends trying to draft.Comment

Re: NC05 How do you get speed
I follow NASCAR quite a bit and I do see them hit above 190 on the back straits during qualifying.
I am thinking of starting the career mode over and try to become a Hero. I would say it is much easier to be a villian, easier to bump your way buy cars, run it hard into a corner then use a car to help you turn. So the Hero approach may take more time to make it to Cup racing but I will give it a shot.Comment

Re: NC05 How do you get speed
Are we talking about race or qual setups, then? I misunderstood your question to be "the field is leaving me"...in which case, you won't have a hope in hell to hit over 190 on any race setup designed to last a full race. However, I'm still at the 188 or 189 area with no setup tweaks whatsoever, so I'm sure that if you had a perfectly clean line and upped the tire pressure and decreased some drag, you could get over 190. The biggest thing is drafting, and the game seems to have a huge issue with 3rd-to-4th gear ratios on plate tracks....you shift up to 4th and the field outpulls you by a mile. So bad that you lose the draft sometimes, in fact. If you can get by that initial surge, you shouldn't have a problem. I ran Legend AI with no aids, put a few minor tweaks on the setup and qual'd 3rd, placed 2nd after a 24 lapper at Daytona.
Regardless, if you're expecting a Cup car to hit more than 190 solo on a race setup, then I'm not sure what to say. It sounds like the root of your problem is that nobody wants to work with you on the track, though.Comment
