    Nascar Thunder XBOX

Anyone else play this game? I rented it 2 days ago and dang near can't get past the ,IMO, awful graphics for an XBOX game. The game plays like it is intended, as a get in and have fun type of game, but the grainy/jaggy graphics are just terrible.

Yeah I sort of commented on that in my review.

At first I thought it looked like ***, then when I looked around at 200mph I didn't notice it so much. As I played it more, I forgot about it more...

But yes, at first glance it was really hard to get past the jaggies and ugly visuals. You have to remember they're displaying 40+ cars though...can't really antialias or do anything fancy with that much power being pushed.

      Terry:

I agree with you and the prior poster that the graphics suck in the Xbox version of Thunder 2003. Basically a straight port of the PS2 version, with little or no attempts at anti-aliasing.

But I must disagree with this statement:

      >>>You have to remember they're displaying 40+ cars though...can't really antialias or do anything fancy with that much power being pushed.<<<

NASCAR Heat 2002 for the Xbox had 43 cars on screen for each race with fine graphics and plenty of anti-aliasing. The only negative aspect of that game's graphics was slight slowdown when using the rear-view mirror. I just keep the mirror off and rely on my spotter, who doesn't talk incessantly like the moron in NASCAR Thunder 2003.

You wrote a fine review, as always, man.

      Take care,

I forgot about heat, dunno why.

It looked worlds better than Thunder, you're right. The slowdown with the mirror was so negligible, I forgot about that too.

        Shame on me...

          Re: Nascar Thunder XBOX

I absolutely loved Nascar Heat, and never understood why it didn't get more praise than it did. I still love to watch the replays of races even when I play it now.

Are they going to produce this for X-Box again. I've seen varying reports. I hope so, and I hope they've put a lot of time into making it even better.

I've looked everywhere, and all I get is "not at this time".

I have no idea why, it was worlds better than Thunder. I, however, love Thunder 2003 for what it is. I sure would like a little more realism, though. Thunder isn't bad, but I'll always fire up Nascar 2002 on PC for realism fixes.
