Continued from above...
After a good week one experience with the Drivehub on my PS4, I decided to give it a go on the XB1. The setup was the same. Plug and play, and you're ready to go. All of the buttons mapped correctly to the physical equivalent (Cross=A, Circle=B..., Bumpers, Triggers, etc.) and the PS button worked as the XB button. The wheel itself was recognized as a Logitech G920.
The first game I tried was Forza H3, which probably took the most adjustments to get it to feel right. This game experience was similar to the handling I was seeing on DriveClub. After much tweaking I can say that it was finally considered pretty decent. Again, the rust factor surely played a part in what I was feeling. The FFB was hit or miss sometimes, but that was coming from PC2's extensive settings. One thing I noticed right away was that the RPM meter did not work on FH3. Not a major deal to me. Other than that, pretty good experience.
I then fired up Forza 6, and again my 'G920' showed up. Again, the rev lights didn't work, so I think it may just be an XB1 thing. I noticed that the DS4 light mimicked the rev lights on the PS4, so that could be it. Either way, minor issue IMO. As far as controls, FM6 controls were money out the gate! It felt very good with just one adjustment (center spring force). I'm sure I could tweak it some, but I can definitely live with the default settings using the Drivehub. Nice!
After FM6, I downloaded the FM7 demo and fired it up. Felt (played) even better than FM6, without making a single adjustment. Not even pedal calibration. I was very pleased and felt in control at all times. Really good. FM7 is beautiful, btw. And plays very well (with the wheel) - actually, it should be noted that it's the only game that I hadn't played before with a controller. So there was no baseline to compare to.
Verdict
I ABSOLUTELY RECOMMEND the Drivehub for anyone who may have an older wheel that may be collecting dust. The real value comes from its cross platform capabilities. For $90 (or $81 at discount) it's a godsend for racing gamers. It seems to work flawlessly for any game, on either platform.
Closing thought
As for longevity, I don't think there is a way for MS/Sony to patch out functionality, since it uses an actual wired controller and maps it to your wheel. Other Cronusmax products have managed to maintain longevity on the consoles. It will definitely increase my number of racing game purchases going forward.
I have some screenshot that I still need to fetch, but here are some pics of the setup on XB1.
