Man, kinda noticing a trend where you can reel in the whole field but not the lead car... never seem to be able to catch him.

That's starting to feel a little scripted or glitchy or something. Not sure why that lead car is so much faster than the others (except, of course, I guess that's why he's in the lead - but you get my meaning).

Yeah, I suck to be honest. But it's strange that I can usually catch everyone except the leader.

I find the biggest reason people can't catch the leader is because they are not driving the track right.

For one just like Proof21 said loosen up your car, 99% of the default setups are to tight.

Before I bought the game I watched people playing on youtube and the one biggest complaint people had was the didn't have any straight away speed, yes you do, you just have to learn how to drive the track. Back the corners up, plain and simple. What I mean is don't drive to hard into the corners. Get off the gas and brake before the corner. That way you can get on the gas earlier and get that speed for the straights.

Another thing people never want to do is run up high. Everybody wants to stay on the bottom of the track and then complain they can't go anywheres. Move up high even if it's just one lane, that can make a huge difference. If you can learn to use higher lines around the track you can really get going.

Sometimes you just can't catch the leader no matter what. I've had races that no matter what I did I got stuck in 4th or 5th place and I had to fight to stay there.

what's the verdict on career mode with the game with patches currently? AI? pits? yellows?

I bought my brother this game for his birthday. We've both been playing it and having a blast. He has the original NHE and complained so much about it that I never bothered even trying it once.

It's already pretty damn good after the first month that it dropped. I'm excited to see what patches and additional content they add as time goes on.

Btw, we generally play a few quick races to see what the game is like and then it's balls to wall in Career mode from then on out. We never do the online thing. Just not interested in it.

I sure would like stability control AND the options to fiddle with my car. I really stink, so I need the stability control, but the default car is pretty tough to be competitive with at tracks like Iowa and Miami... and the road tracks are a circus - but that's probably all on me. Why do I always get a great hot seat ride at the road tracks... it's kinda cruel.

What they really need to do is go back to how it used to be where you could toggle stability control, traction control, braking assist, and what ever other assists there were to your liking.

Make sure you have assists off, then when you're sitting in the pits prior to a session you can change the car set up.

Ahhh. I tried with assists off, but would spin out a lot. I will have to play around with the setup and see if that works. Thanks! Loving this game so far.

I don't ever spin out even with the default setups.

The default set ups are very tight and need to be loosened up a bit - but I have spun - typically when I hit the apron and my car thinks it's on ice.

Oh yeah on the apron of course, but nothing you can do about that with any setup.

That's realistic on banked tracks. You're not supposed to be able to make the transition from the banking to the apron at speed without trouble.
