NASCAR Thunder 2004 or Chase for the Cup 2005?

I remember loving Chase for the Cup 2005, but never played Thunder 2004, which seems to get really high praise as well.

Which would you guys say is better and why? I'm looking to jump back into one of these.

2004 is more about starting in crap equipment and doing R&D to be competitive. That's why it gets the high praise it does. That's never been my cup of tea personally. 2005 is more about being a driver coming up through the ranks. You're in decent equipment from the start as I recall and you get better offers to move up through the series as you do well in the previous series. I should note that 2004 only has the cup series while 2005 has whelen modifieds, trucks and the Nationwide series.

One thing I absolutely loved about 2005 is that qulaifying and the race were considered 2 events on different days and if you had 2 events in different series on the same day you could only run one of the 2. I loved having to choose between qualifying for one series and a race on the same day. Do I skip the Nationwide race or start the next day's cup race from the back because I missed qualifying type of thing.
