Well....it seems as though ECC(Extreme Competition Controls) is still alive and doing very well. They have incorporated and are now ECCI.

I just ordered myself a new Trackstar6000 GTS setup. The price is steep, but the quality is excellent. I still use my old ECC wheel and it's perfect. Got it 10 years ago. I have two homes so hence the need for two setups(glad my wife let me)

Anyway....in my search for a new setup, I have also come across another company.....HYPERSTIM. The sell cockpit setups and have GREAT looking wheels, pedals and shifter. The address is www.hyperstim.com. They have three versions of their cockpits and you can buy it without the controls and you just add your own. Looks good. Maybe down the road.

Here's a question for you guys about setup. I own a Logitech Pro Force Feedback wheel, the one officially sponsored for the upcoming GT 4. I use it sparingly for PS2 but can't wait to see what it's made of when GT 4 comes out. I saw those racing stands and really think I need something like that since my night stand table doesn't allow me to put the pedals directly under the wheel. Is there something cheaper out there that could help me get the job done. I was even looking at the table-mate advertised on TV because it's supposed to be able to hold up to 50 pounds.

What do you guys use and/or recommend for someone who doesn't want to exceed the cost of the wheel ($110 on sale) to get the ideal setup. I've got a great leather chair I use and I play too many sports games in general to even look at one of those cockpits!

            CWood;

I think you probably have the same problem alot of PC/Console racers suffer from. The force of using the pedals pushes you away from your wheel. Years ago I came up with a solution and I see that ECCI has bettered it. They offer a base...where you take two wheels off of your office chair and press in a base that the pedals are attached to. Now there is no way to slide back.
I did something similar. I fastened two clamps attached to a wood base that held my pedals. The clamps I then attached to my chair. Same idea...just a different method.
Those cockpits look fantastic...but the price!! Yikes!
I'm drawing up plans as we speak. Two sheets of plywood with a couple of coats of laquer ought to do it!

Sounds good. If you need someone to market it when you're done, I need to put my degree in MK to use so give me a holla!

Traction is kind of an issue for me, but the real problem (explained poorly by me the first time) is that the table I use to clamp my wheel on does not have a hollow underneath, so I have to put the pedals off to the right. It's not a table that has two legs and space for me to fit my own legs underneath it. The traction on logitech's new pedals are actually quite good, but the real problem is that my legs are off to the side and I can't really break and accelerate at the same time as I'm only really using my right foot that's wrapped around the table. Obviously a bad setup, and I'm sure you PC racers have it a bit easier by hooking up the wheel to your computer desk. For console users, what can I buy that would allow me to better simulate the experience?

I saw the racing stand for a hundred bucks on one of the links but it's very pricey and I'm not even sure it would work with the logitech wheel I have. Also, as I mentioned, I was considering buying a Table-Mate, which is like a hybrid TV stand that seems pretty durable and able to take the force feedback. I don't really want to build something that will be tough to store, so that's another thought to consider. Thanks in advance for some ideas.

Here's a link to my possible cheap solution:

Tell me if it sounds like a stupid idea, as I've never had a wheel before and you guys have been doing this for years.

You can get 1 of them for about $32 after shipping at QVC, so I wouldn't be dropping 60 bucks for this makeshift idea of mine. It's supposed to hold 50 pounds, but I was thinking that I could also lock it into position and then brace it with something stronger just in case. Feedback, or something better very much welcomed.

                        Hmmm
I don't think that table can hold up to the thrashing and pressure from simming a driving experience. Especially if it's a road or rally course....where you'll be whipping the wheel from side to side alot.
You're probably better off making something yourself.

That's what I was afraid of. What do you use yourself? Are many of you PC racers set by attaching a wheel to your computer desk? I'm not seeing a well-priced solution for console users like myself who aren't real racing lovers per say but do want to get the most out of an expensive wheel. Hmmmm.......

I have my console(XBox and PS2) connected to my PC monitor...so even for my consoles...I use a wheel that is secured to my desk...hence the need for the office chair setup.
