NASCAR testing new Chicago Street Course in iRacing

Pretty cool story with NASCAR testing out a new street circuit in Chicago for NASCAR to see if the racing would be good, and see if any changes would be needed to help racing/safety.

This actually isn't the first track they have done that for, as iRacing is working with NASCAR and Auto Club to build a half mile track on the front stretch changing the track from a two mile track to a new short track.

Pretty cool seeing a sport using video games to quickly and cheaply test out new ideas. (could this be used in other sports to test new rules?)

This is awesome! Hoping we see more road racing in NASCAR.

BTW: I made it to road series A license last week so I'm an official mid-packer/field-filler.

Hope all is good with you @kneebon5

Wow, congrats on the Road A License! I just feel good about myself having an Oval C License, but I don't drive that often.

On the topic, I LOVE iRacing working with NASCAR like this. I think last year's Pro Invitational races during the quarantine was Gold for iRacing...and good for NASCAR as well.

Yeah, could be interesting. Seems NASCAR has finally decided to move away from the cookie cutter tracks somewhat. I just don't see why they have to eliminate the tracks altogether. Why can't they just put some of them in a rotation so they are only raced every 2-3 years?

Anyone remember which one of EAs games had the fantasy street track called Wal-Mart?

Wasn't it one of the NASCAR Thunder games?
