    1.9 is rolling out...

    Hotfix notes:

Improvements made to fuel usage, reducing instances of both player and AI drivers running out of fuel during a race

Improvements made to AI behaviour during wet or mixed conditions races, reducing instances of unrealistic or unnecessary pit stops

Fixed issue causing dilemma pop-ups to not be clickable on ultra-wide screens when ‘enable widescreen UI during sessions’ is enabled

Oh I was wrong on how many softs you get to start Q1. So you get 3. Do you get an extra set if you make it to Q3? Still not fully understanding how tires work in this game when practicing and qualifying. I know you lose I guess 5 sets of softs during practice?

Edit: I actually paid attention and I understand now how it works lol.

        Re: F1 Manager 2022: How's it going?

Made a big mistake on my last race! . I was at Interlagos, Brazil. I had did a Hard/Hard/Soft strategy. There where a couple of VSC and a full safety that I used to put on my second set of Hards. Well I wasn't thinking and thought I could make it to the end on this second set. I realized with like 6 laps to go that I used 2 sets of hards and nothing else! So I had to pit for another tire or I would be disqualified. So I went from p4 to p14. I put on softs for the last 5 laps. I got to p11 and ran out of ERS or I would have gotten p10 right at the end. I got fastest lap. Looking back I probably should have done Medium/Hard/Soft or Medium/Hard/Hard. That way I might have been able to do 1 stop and not have forgotten that I needed to do a different set of tires other than Hards.

Man I just can't stop playing this game. Season 3. Brought Lando to Haas (now paired with Piastri) but effed up pretty bad with the timing. In December of Season 2 I had just paid like $20mm to improve two facilities and THEN realized there were some drivers open to signing with me that a week earlier hadn't been. Hello Lando Norris. Prob is, the game let me go in to significant debt to sign him, but it carried over in to the next season and I couldn't start any design projects until I paid the debt and it took TWO MONTHS to do so. So, ZERO car development until AFTER pre-season testing started.

TL;DR don't shell out money for new facilities at the end of a season, wait 'til the following year so you get your driver lineup set first.

Norris is an effing BEAST by the way. Actually keeps the car on the road unlike Magnussen and Piastri. Come on, Haas! Two wins and four podiums in the first six races. I want to beat Verstappen and Red Bull so bad so I can move on to another game.

Oh that is good to know! I will make sure not to do that. Right now Albon keeps it on the track pretty good and I signed a rookie to replace Latifi but it's like having Latifi 2.0. Running wide and spinning and such. I need to just sign a current f1 driver once I get to my 3rd season to go along with Albon. I will look at Norris and see if he is free than. Also was thinking of Mags or Zhou.

Yep I can't stop playing it either. It is really fun especially when you grind your way to getting points.

There is just something about a game that allows me to sit back and sink into the couch (perhaps while super stoned, who's to say?) while being completely engrossed by what's on the screen in front of me. Completely different vibe compared to playing F122 or Fifa23 or like 95% of games where I'm sitting up leaned forward at attention staring at the screen with 110% concentration. Sometimes I like being able to sit back and watch and observe stretches of the race while I mentally start to tweak tire or race strategy. This is why I loved X-Com 2 on the ps5 so much, I could sit there and think and ponder and not feel rushed to do something in the game. And to your other point, I really love grinding out points. I was genuinely stoked the first time I got a double points finish with Haas. Once you transition to battling at the front of the pack, it's like a completely different approach to a race that is equally exciting.

For those not playing this, you're sleeping on a gem! Hopefully this becomes an annual release.

                Re: F1 Manager 2022: How's it going?

Finally got my first win! Second season and was racing at Baku. I probably would have finish 8th or so but a few things happened that got Albon the win. First I started off on Softs and was going to push every lap till lap 15 or 16 if I could make it that far and put on hards. I went from p15 to p9 doing that. Than stuff started to happen. Perez wrecked so a safety car came out after about 8 laps in. I decided to put on another pair of softs and I drop back to p11. No one else came in. I got up to p4 pushing the tires knowing that I could go to at least lap 23 before switching to hards. Also a couple of pit stops by others got me up to p4.

Well another thing happened. My second driver, Schumacher who I signed in the off season, was p8 which I was surprised he was that high, ended up wrecking. So that brought out safety car 2 at lap 20 I think. Everyone put on hards and I went with softs again. I knew I couldn't make it to the end but I was going to try to push to get a good lead on the leaders and pit for Mediums and try to catch back up.

So this is what really got me the win right here. There was another wreck. Lec and Ves took each other out of the race at lap 29 I believe. I only pulled away from the leaders by about 2.5 seconds before the wreck. I knew right there I needed to pit for mediums. I put them on and came out p3 (they probably need to fix how often AI cars come in, because I think some of them should have to put on mediums if they had a set). I pass the next car and got passed Sainz to take the lead. However I only pulled away at most 3 seconds. By lap 46 he came back and he took the lead. I decided to harvest and conserve fuel while staying in his DRS. At lap 50 I push and got passed him and deployed all my ERS to get out of DRS. Which I did for both DRS on the final lap. However he almost got into DRS on the final straight to the checker but he missed it by .12.

I ended up winning because 3 of the big 4 were out of the race and I was getting way lucky with safety cars. 1 of the softs I used was used compound with 90% life on them. It worked out which I figured it would even with 10% less life. Normally I don't push push push, but with how everything was playing out I push push push on all 3 softs. Mediums I push to get the lead but went back to normal until the final 2 laps before pushing again. Can't believe I won! I was stoked. Especially with how badly the previous race, Monte Carlo went. Got p12 and p16 on that track. I messed up with my strategy on that one.

                  Re: F1 Manager 2022: How's it going?

Man that's awesome, the first win feels very special in the game when you do it with a back-marker like Williams or Haas. Fluky or not, a W feels great in an underpowered machine.

I'm about 2/3 through Season 3 and in an insane battle with RB and Verstappen. I think Haas is fifteen points ahead of RB (who themselves are only about 20 points ahead of Ferrari) and Norris is one point ahead of Verstappen in the driver's standings.

I'd like to add that I did something stupid in that I voted incorrectly on a rule change that will result in Season 4 no longer offering a bonus point for the fastest lap.

Also also, please let me amuse you with Season 3's Alpha Tauri driver lineup in my game:

                  Vettel and Hamilton.

                    Re: F1 Manager 2022: How's it going?

Oh I have to make sure not to vote for that lol. If Hamilton is a FA by the 3rd season I might have to sign him . Hopefully he wants to sign to my team. I thought both might retire by season 3 lol.

I got another fluky place the next race. Got 2nd place. A couple of Safety cars again. Albon got p2 and Mick got p7. Mick did that all on his own though lol. I think if I do sign Louis I am going to replace Albon. Like 5 cars were out of the race in that race also.

Anyways I thought it might happen again in my next race. Nope not this time! No safety car so I just managed to get p10 with Albon. Mick got p16. Strategy did not work out. Mick was on 1 stop M/H. He got up to p12 but with like 5 laps to go he got passed by 4 cars. Albon was on 2 stop S/M/S. Both Softs I pushed. However the first one I had to pit 2 laps earlier than I wanted to and that affected my Medium stint no push. So I couldn't push to get back up to where I had pitted before. I had pitted p7 (started p16) and by the time those guys I was grouped with pitted, I was about 3 seconds behind. That DRS help them greatly. I had no DRS for the first 4 laps of that stint. My tires on the Softs started to fall off and even though I got back up to p8, I got passed and couldn't pass them back up the last 3 laps. Burned up all my ERS on top of tire wear.
