Not well versed in PC F1 games

My PC F1 gaming knowledge is limited though I know the titles. I just don't know what's what in the gaming of that particular sport. But I know how sports games basically break down in every other sport so, I need some help from people that know...

    1. The game that everyone agrees has the best graphics?
    2. The game where graphics don't really matter because the gameplay is like actually racing a car?
    3. The game that is most moddable? (Tracks, real drivers, real cars, etc)
    4. The game that has the best, most realistic TV presentation?
    5. The game -- as a bit of an F1 noob with very very little car mechanics knowledge but interest in learning more -- that I'll probably enjoy more?
    Thanks, everyone.

I want to preface this by saying I’m not really a PC gamer. I do have a Steam Deck so I’m starting to get into it more. With that being said I feel like I still have a pretty good idea about what you’re asking and I’m not sure you’ll get many answers, so I wanted to give you something. The most recent games I’ve played or have knowledge about, that have F1 cars are F1 2020-23, iRacing, Assetto Corsa, Project Cars 2.

    1. Best graphics. With a good PC they’re all great quite frankly. I’d say assetto corsa feels the most life like when playing or watching. While F1 23 is probably the easiest on the eyes as they’ve went for a more bold color pallet this year.

    2. Game most like racing a car. From what I understand it’s going to be iRacing. Then your next choice would be assetto corsa. The F1 games I would call more sim cade where you can definitely still spin out and lose the car but it’s a lot harder to do. I would say assetto corsa is somewhere in between F1 and iRacing.

    3. Most moddable game. Quite frankly I don’t do much modding but I know you can mod assetto corsa alot. I would assume the F1 games are the least moddable and probably the least necessary to mod. I know from watching YouTube series that you can definitely mod car liveries, as well as team logos and coveralls on the F1 games.

    4. Best TV presentation. If you’re looking for F1 presentation then it is undoubtedly F1 23. Every race starts with its own unique intro that gives you some really interesting facts about that track, before you get a run down of the grid order from the broadcast team. You can set your formation lap, pit stops and safety cars all to “broadcast”. You can also watch the replay of the race from a broadcast camera view with a live standings table during the playback.

    5. Game for F1 noob. F1 20 or 23. F1 20 was the first year of my team it’s a little more streamlined that year, which is the only reason I’d even mention it over 23. F1 20-23 all do a really good job of balancing some mildly deep F1 car building and car setups, with a user friendly way of doing things. For example, there are 5 basic setups that I personally always use but if you wanted to, you could really dive in and start tweaking every part of the set up and make the car drive just how you want. For the car building, you can really study what you car needs and how you stack up against other teams and strategically save up and build certain parts for your car. Or you could just let the CPU suggest you what they would build.

So to summarize. If you want the best simulation feeling game, that’s also the most moddable then go iRacing or assetto. They do have formula cars but they don’t really have a very deep career mode unless you find an online league to race in. If you want the game that makes you feel like you’re part of F1 and an actual F1 team, with a full calendar, 26 official tracks, full game mode that lets you build a team from scratch and play 10 seasons, then it’s no doubt F1 23.
